You are your mommy's Angel.
Look down upon her on this day,
As she remembers you, before your life with god.
She needs your strength dear little one,
Guide your mommy through,
As she once did the same with you.
RIP EM.
SIDS is the sudden death of an infant under one year of age which remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation, including performance of a complete autopsy, examination of the death scene, and review of the clinical history. (Willinger et al, 1991).
In a typical situation parents check on their supposedly sleeping infant to find him or her dead. This is the worst tragedy parents can face, a tragedy which leaves them with a sadness and a feeling of vulnerability that lasts throughout their lives. Since medicine can not tell them why their baby died, they blame themselves and often other innocent people. Their lives and those around them are changed forever.
Because of this, My soon to be sister in law- Jess has put together a foundation called Annual Mackenzie Leigh SIDS Fundraiser
A word from Jess:
"As some of you know, each year we hold our Annual Mackenzie Leigh SIDS Benefit in memory of my daughter. She passed away in April, 2003 at the age of 3 months. Since September of the same year, we have held our fundraiser. In the past it has been in the form of a golf outing. However, even though this has been successful in the past, this year we're branching out and trying something new. We are going to have a silent auction/dinner/dance. It is our hope to have a record breaking amount in donations.
Every year, all of our proceeds are donated to First Candle - an amazing research organization. They not only focus on finding the cause(s) of SIDS, but also focus on stillbirths & have a great support group.
Since we are having a silent auction, any assistance in getting donations (items/goods, services, etc...) would be greatly appreciated! We will take all the help we can get."
To honor my to be sister in laws wishes, I am asking anyone who wants to donate to this wonderful foundation to please send donations to my PayPal email michelleshell1321@hotmail.com or if you wish to send something via mail please email me at michellelichtenfels@gmail.com and I will supply you with the information needed.
Thank you all
RIP Mackenzie Leigh Bowman

Post a CommentTearful, and beautiful tribute poem. Excellent article raising awareness about SIDS.
Beautiful, heartfelt poem. I lost my nephew to SIDS in May, 2004. He was also just three months old.
A very difficult thing for parents and families to deal with.
Oh how heartbreaking!! When my granddaughter was born I worried for the first 3 months about SIDS. I can't imagine what it is like to lose an infant. Losing a child at any age is torture.
Thanks Jack
What a precious, benevolent thing to do. When I worked for Head Start as a Regional Manager for the Federal Office, I trained in SIDS and this is so heartbreaking I can not even imagine. God bless you for passing on this most important cause that can possibly prevent this from happening to someone else.
No Problem love you too
Thank you so much Michelle! Means a lot to me. Love you *hugs*
