Remembering Michael Jackson: 1984 Pepsi Commercial with his Hair on Fire

Thoughts of Michael Jackson Tribute

After the memorial tribute to Michael Jackson it seemed as though we were all trying to find our own way to cope with the death of Michael. Crowds surrounded the arena emotional of his passing. Some of us choose to remember him through music. Currently on Apple iTunes, several of Michael's songs are featured as downloads to remember his vocal talent. Some of us choose to remember Michael through video.

Michael had a long lasting impact on the music industry, and is known for common moves like the "moon walk." Video tributes are airing of his Thriller video, and even more interesting is a video that is gaining popularity, his Pepsi commercial shoot in 1984.

While shooting a commercial for Pepsi, Michael's hair catches on fire. There are a few seconds of the video that Michael continues to dance without realizing his hair is on fire. In that one instant Michael's life changed forever. He was immediately moved to the hospital for treatment of serious burns that were treated on his head.

This moment was a turning point in how the country viewed Michael. Unfortunately the years that followed were nothing short of the population casting Michael aside. The public could not understand his behavior, his medical treatments, and his actions.

It's very unfortunate that the moment that Michael's life changed so drastically, we want to relive the moment by watching the video ourselves. I can't imagine the pain he must have felt being in the public eye, while living through this traumatic episode.

With his passing, many of us have found a place of peace. We've found that we can rejoice in the talent of the man, rather than the mystery of his life. When a famous star passes, there is such an interest into more insight of their life. We all want to know how he lived, what his kids are like, how much money he has, and what is to come of his belongings which include the rights to the Beatles catalog.

Until then, we will all wait with anticipation.
