Remembering Newt Gingrich's Sexual Hypocrisy During the Lewinsky Scandal

Timothy Sexton

"You are commanded to produce each and every gift given you by the Defendant." This is what Monica Lewinsky received from the court in her subpoena in the Monica Lewinsky/ Pres. Clinton scandal. You may remember that Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was a leading figure against Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky title. His words were something to the effect of, and I'm paraphrasing here, "liberals are all sex-crazed devils and if you want America to get back on track you need to elect conservative Republicans."

"You are commanded to produce any and all gifts received by you from the Plaintiff." These are the words from the subpoena received by Callista Bisek. That subpoena was part of the divorce case between Newton and his wife. You may remember, or maybe not, how Newt Gingrich showed up at the hospital sick bed of his wife to get her signature on those divorce proceedings. Turns out that all the time Newt Gingrich had been bashing Pres. Bill Clinton for a sexual affair with Monica Lewinsky, well, he was banging a chick half his age. Apparently, Newt Gingrich's favorite place to rendezvous with the 27 year old as he was a 51 year old married man was the cafeteria of the Supreme Court of the United States. Scalia and O'Connor must have enjoyed that. And not in an ironic way is that meant.

What makes the hypocrisy of this illusion of manhood currently running for the top spot is that just about every one of his Republican witch hunting maniacs back the late 90s were more than aware of Gingrich's devotion to being on the receiving end of oral delights from the young unmarried woman. The 27 year old unmarried woman. Who was having an affair with a 51 year old married man who by day was telling the world what an awful human being William Jefferson Clinton was while at night he the recipient of the exact same pleasure that Clinton was enjoying. Minus the cigar…as far as the American public knows.

Anyone who casts a vote for Newt Gingrich to become President who joined him in his condemnation of William Jefferson Clinton back in the 1990s is, well, a hypocrite. A flaming, no-holds-barred member of the conservative Republican hypocracy that wants to run this country based on a system of morals to which, apparently, absolute none of them actually subscribe.

Newt Gingrich had an affair with a woman 23 years younger than him at the exact moment in history that one of Gingrich's closest allies, Sen. Helen Chenoweth, had this to say about a married man having an affair in the White House: "Clinton's behavior has severely damaged his ability to lead our nation and the free world."

If it was good enough then, it's good enough now. Time to kick Newt's Presidential ambitions to the curb according to the conservative Republican view of the world.
