Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron Review

How Does Remington Compare to the CHI?

Emily Harmon
I have been using a Conair ¾" Ceramic Straightener for about a year now to straighten my fine, wavy hair. I recently asked my stylist how I could achieve sleeker straight hair, "a la" the salon. Her big suggestion was to invest in a better flat iron, one that gets "salon hot." That's where the Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron enters the picture. After deciding I wanted a new flat iron I started some price checks. I was floored to find that most "salon quality" flat irons cost at least $100, with many closer to $200. With a much tighter budget than could afford a $100 plus flat iron, I looked to the Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron and I could not be happier with my purchase.

The Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron asks buyers to compare it to the CHI, a very well known salon brand of flat irons that retails for about $130. At less than $40 I didn't think there was any way that the Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron could live up to the ability of the CHI. Fortunately, the Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron proved me wrong.

The digital controls of the Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron allow the user to choose a temperature ranging from 300 degrees for 430 degrees. Since my stylist says a hotter flat iron is the key to straighter hair, the super high 430 degree temperature is a huge plus of the Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron. The adjustable temperature is excellent if multiple users with different hair types are using the same flat iron. The CHI only gets to 370 degrees, so the Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron actually gets hotter than the CHI.

So far I honestly have not found a down side to my Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron. The smooth ceramic plates glide effortlessly through my hair, not ripping it out like my old Conair. My hair is left soft and smooth and super straight. I have very fine hair with a lot of waves, but the high temperature of the Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron has not damaged it. Yes, my hair is very hot to the touch after a quick pass through, but it looks shiny and healthy after each use.

Overall my $40 Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron is one of the best purchases I have made. I am thrilled that I did not spend over $100 on another flat iron, when the Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron does such an incredible job. I highly recommend the Remington Style Professional Digital Flat Iron for great straightening results without spending a fortune.

My stylist tells me the exact opposite about the heat on those flat irons. She said when they get too hot, it just fries the hair. Isn't that funny? Two professionals, telling two different people something the exact opposite. (I always use mine hot anyway though) hee hee

Wow, thanks for the review on this product. My daughter also uses a flat iron and her stylist keeps pushing us towards to pricier "pro model" types which are totally out of our budget. Nice to know that Remington has an affordable alternative.
