Bathrooms are the critical room of any house. The way the bathroom is decorated speaks to the way you live. A dirty bathroom will be a turnoff for anyone visiting or looking to buy your house. By utilizing the following remodeling bathroom tips should allow you to achieve a clean look and save on your expenses as well.

If you're remodeling all the bathrooms in your house you can combine purchases to save as well as make the same upgrades at the same time. Some bathroom ideas you should think about are going with a clean bright appearance as well as determining what your intentions are of remodeling the bathroom in the first place. If you're going to live in the house for awhile you may want to do a complete bathroom renovation, but if you're just remodeling the bathroom to sell the house then you don't want to sink a lot of money into the bathroom.

Bathroom remodel tips include doing a complete tear out of existing vanities, commodes and wall cabinets. Once you have the room empty then you may want to put down some tile. You should use something neutral or clean looking such as white, gray or tan. Also, you should examine your walls and fix any dings or holes in the wall. Prime the whole bathroom and paint with a neutral color. Next examine your lighting fixture in the bathroom. Does it need to be moved to brighten up the area? If so put a light in the center of the bathroom so all lighting is evenly dispersed. Most people have lighting on the wall and it doesn't brighten up the bathroom.

Once you have a new floor down and the bathroom painted you need to think about adding some crown molding as well as new baseboards. I would paint them bright white because it gives a clean look to the room. However, you'll have to decide on the paint for the crown and baseboard based on what type of paint you painted the room.

Next you should buy a new vanity and commode to install in the bathroom. Remember, make sure that they coordinate with the tile and paint in the room.

The last project for a total bathroom makeover is the bathtub/shower area. Some tips on remodeling a shower are that you can add a new shower head. If the door protecting the shower is old and used looking replace it with something clean and appealing. You can keep the old shower door if you like, but you'll need to clean it very well and re-caulk around the shower or bathtub. But first if you have tile on the wall you may want to replace that with a tile that matches the rest of the bathroom.

Some other remodeling bathroom tips that don't cost a lot of money and time are changing out any door knobs and hinges. Also, if you put down baseboard in the bathroom you may want to add some quarter round to give it an eye appealing look. If you have any cabinets on the wall you may want to build them into the wall versus having them stick out on the wall. Another great bathroom remodeling tip is to change out old light sockets and outlets. Spruce them up with something bright white with a matching faceplate will make the room more attractive.

Remodeling a small bathroom from changing out everything should cost around $500-$1500 depending on what you select to add. Bathroom remodeling is fairly easy and you can do it yourself. Just take your time. Remember, color coordinate your rooms and don't mix colors that don't go together.
