Remote Control Planes - Sport Planes

Remote control aircraft are more complex then many people assume. They require all of the technology their large full scale counterparts do except on a much smaller scale. There are many remote control planes that are scale replicas of their counterparts down to the smallest bolt. This being said they are often much more complex and expensive then the average remote control plane. These remote control aircraft are often referred to as scale models and sport planes.

Sport remote control aircrafts come in many different shapes and sizes. However, they are much larger than their park flyer and trainer counterparts. Sport remote control aircraft are for the more advanced remote control pilot, due in large part to their large size and faster speeds. Some sport remote control aircraft are called fun-fly planes and these tend to have wingspans fewer than forty inches. Most remote control hobbyists choose these planes since they do not require an excessively large area to fly and land. Other remote control aircraft range from one forth to half the size of their full size counterparts.

Most people choose sport remote control airplanes for their realistic appearance. However, another advantage to buying on of these planes is that they can perform much more complex and advanced maneuvers. These planes can do flips, twists, loops, rolls, and even tail slides. These remote control aircraft can do anything an advanced fighter plane can do except fire on enemy targets. For this reason these planes are an absolute blast to fly. These planes usually come with either a gas or glow plug electric engine. Gas of course means that these planes can fly for as long as they have a fuel supply and can quickly be refueled. These gas engines are often two cycle gas engines ranging from fifty to two-hundred and fifty cubic centimeters. Glow plug remote control aircraft are more advanced then the normal electric battery powered aircraft and can be flown for a much longer time period. They do require some time to recharge. This is one of the few disadvantages they have to their gas powered counterparts. The advantage of course being there is no fuel to buy or spill.

Sport and scale remote control aircraft are much more delicate than park flyers and trainers. For this and other reasons such as their fast speeds and advanced aerobatic capabilities these remote control planes should only be flown by advanced pilots who have experience flying other types of remote control aircraft.
