Remove Chlorine Smell from Hair and Skin

Angel Vee
Just got done swimming and my hair and skin smells like chlorine, how can I wear my hair so the smell won't be as harsh? I don't know about you, but I know after I come out of a pool the smell of chlorine hits me so bad it makes me nauseous and gives me a nasty headache.

No matter how much or how little chlorine we use in our swimming pools, the pool still tend to give off a very strong odor. Unfortunately, the problem is not having too much chlorine in the pool, it has to do with a sanitation issue. I know this sounds bizarre, but when you have human sweat mixed with urine it causes a reaction in the water. It's almost like when a dog or cat urinates on a carpet. Your not aware of the accident at first, the carpet gets wet and it create a massive scent that will knock you out.

The hair and skin loves to soak up these smells, and when it does it's so hard to remove or mask the issue. Most of the time, swimmers don't think about bringing along products to place into their hair or on their skin after swimming. If you have a sensitive nose and get headaches easily I suggest next time take something along with you.

Home Remedies To Use To Get Rid Of Chlorine Smell In hair And On Skin

Find a scent that will mask the smell of the chlorine such as peppermint, lavender, vanilla, or citrus. The product can be in form of a lotion or a spray. As soon as you get out of the pool, towel dry the hair, and place a small amount of product onto the entire head scalp included. Then rub onto the skin as well.

Baby wipes- As us parents know baby wipes come in handy. They can be used to remove makeup, soothe a sunburn, add scent to the hair, and even remove chlorine smell from the pool.

Hand sanitizer- Use the hand sanitizer on your hands like you normally do. For the rest of the body use very sparingly. For the hair, place a few drops into your hands, and place into hair and rub. A few drops go a long way.

Orange peels- Orange peels will give your skin shine in the process of removing the chlorine smell off your skin and hair. The citrus scent is a great smell to use to cover up nasty smells.

Products To Use To Cover Up And Remove Chlorine Smell From Hair

TriSwim- This product is great on the skin and the hair. It contains a citrus scent, Aloe vera, vitamin E, and B5, which our hair and skin can always use. This is a lotion form not a shampoo. This is great for those on the run and need to get the smell of chlorine out right away.

Aussie Citrifier Shampoo- I have used almost every Aussie product out there, and this shampoo does an amazing job removing chlorine and hair build up. It has a exotic citrus scent that will make your hair feel nice and clean.

When it comes to buying a chlorine removal shampoo it doesn't have to be the most expensive one on the shelf. There is one for each family budget.

Other shampoos are Paul Mitchell 3, UltraSwim, Ion, Nexxus Aloe Rid, Joico K-Pak, and Malibu 2000.

Now remember, a chlorine removal shampoo does not have to say it on the bottle. You can use a chelating shampoo, a clarifying shampoo, or medicated.
