Remove Raspberry Stains from Any Fabric

Loraine Alkire
Fresh Raspberries are a wonderful treat, they are a brilliant flowery red and full of great nutrients but they can also make one horrific stain. It's so nice to think about sitting back on your lovely linen sofa that sits so nicely a top that great white shag rug with a bowl of ice cream topped with red raspberries snuggling with the hubby and watching a scary flick on television until ... OUT pops Freddie Krueger or Frankenstein. Well we know what happens next. All those beautiful red raspberries turn into one yucky stain that has to come out fast.

On with the lights, off with the television and out comes the what? Exactly! What's going to get rid of these raspberry stains? They are on your husband's cotton T-shirt, your jersey night gown, the yellow linen sofa that you saved for months to buy and that great white shag carpet that you got at the consignment shop- in pristine condition, until now! (Freddie Krueger and his cohorts of madness are at it again.)

Never fear, Stain Girl is here.

How to Remove Raspberry Stains from Clothing

Quick! Remove your night gown and his T-shirt, now run into the kitchen. (I really hope your blinds are closed.) Flush your nightgown and hubbies T-shirt with cold water as you scream hysterically for him to mix two tablespoons of vinegar, one tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent and one quart of cold water in a bucket. Now throw your clothes in it for 15 minutes while you grab the stuff to clean the couch and the carpet. No, there's no time to put clothes on now- time is of the essence.

How to Remove Raspberry Stains from Carpet

Mix one tablespoon liquid dishwashing detergent with two cups of cool water and wet the stain on the carpet with the solution, now blot it, blot it good, until all the liquid is absorbed. You know the rest... rinse, repeat. "Oh my goodness Stain Girl, the stain isn't coming out!" Don't worry about it. Mix three tablespoons ammonia with two cups cold water, wet the stain with the solution, now blot it- blot it good. Stain gone! See-piece of cake- told you it would work.

How to Remove Raspberry Stains from Upholstery

Now quick, your lemon yellow sofa is starting to look like raspberry short cake. No- there's still no time to put clothes on; you must act fast. Mix one tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with two cups of cool water. Saturate the stain with the solution, now blot it- yes you heard me- blot it good. Okay now Rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat- (if it's not out now you're doomed forever). I'm kidding. Out damn spot! Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with ¾ cups of rubbing alcohol, saturate the stain with the solution. Yes, you know the routine. Blot it- Blot it good. Now rinse, repeat, rinse and repeat with cold water.

Wasn't that just so repetitious? Quickly now, go throw your clothes in the washing machine and wash them on a cool setting. Do you realize you're still naked? Put some clothes on for crying out loud. Stain Girl does it again!

Maybe I'll just stay away from raspberries. Either that or I'll have to find a partner to mix the concoction advised by Stain Girl!

Hot dig! Now I can fling raspberries around with impunity!

  • Loraine Alkire5/25/2010

Of course I do.. it's diluted with water- I stand by my tips. I've used them all. Well, some people can afford raspberries- not me- but definitely people with new couches and rugs!

Stain Girl, do you really expect me to pour ammonia or vinegar on my new lemon yellow couch? It's terrifying! Michael's right, if you had just been frugal you would not even have raspberries around and this tragedy would never have occurred. Only you could make Stain Removal informative and hilarious at the same time. Can't wait to see the video!
