Remove Styling Product Build Up from Hair the Natural Way

Cindy Smith
I want to talk to you about product build up on your hair. Have you ever noticed after a week or two, after using styling products, moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, that your hair starts to look, weighed down, lifeless or dull? Well that can be caused by a build up of products that we use on our hair. Styling products, mousses, gels, hair sprays can cause a residue on our hair shaft.

A natural way to remove this is to use Apple Cider Vinegar. This can be purchased at any super market. Apple Cider is like a tonic to the hair. It can stimulate hair growth, by providing blood flow to the circulating areas and small capillaries of the scalp. What it also does is remove residue from residual products that stay on your hair. It will make your hair shinier, because what it does is close the cuticle scales on your hair and when you close the cuticle scales it creates a smoother finish, which reflects more light. Your not only getting shinier hair, but bouncier hair and healthy hair, which is what we all want.

What you would do is use the Apple Cider as a hair rinse. Taking 1 Tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and mixing with 1 Cup of warm water, after you have shampooed your hair, pour your cup of Apple Cider Vinegar through your hair. This helps to regulate your PH balance, bringing it back to its natural PH level. It's a wonderful conditioning agent and also removes tangles. This also can be left on longer for extra conditioning. Then you will rinse it. Your hair will be nice and soft and if you want to put extra conditioner on after, you can do this also.

If you prefer to have extra on hand, you can take a ½ Cup of Apple Cider Vinegar and mix with 1 Quart of water and place in a container in the shower area in a sealed container. Its great to have on hand, so you can easily grab it when washing your hair. Depending on your hair and the amount of styling products you use on your hair, you can use it once a week or once every two weeks. Don't worry about the vinegar smell; it will dissipate as your hair dries. It won't strip your hair color either for those who color their hair. Its better then buying a clarifying shampoo because that can strip your hair color in time.

1Tbsp of vinegar mixed with 1 cup of warm water or
1/2 cup of vinegar with a quart of water.

    1 tbsp:1 cup does not equal 1/2 cup:1 quart.
