Renaissance Faires in New York: August and September, 2007

Fanciful Renaissance fairs will be bringing the past alive in Illinois in the upcoming months. Come one and all to see characters of times past. Knights, fairies, jugglers, minstrels, kings, queens and more will be recreated as the performers brings the renaissance alive. Visit the following fairs for a taste of England in the middle ages.

Sterling Renaissance Festival

Sterling, New York
July 7 - August 19, 2007 weekends

Sterling is located one hour north of Syracuse. Exciting festival with over 80 stage and street performers. Over 200 professional actors and stagehands recreate an authentic English Renaissance Village. Fire craftsmanship will be demonstrated by dozens of artisans. "Citizens of Warwick" can join in the ribaldry as they interact with the characters from Warwickshire England of 1585. The roads are filled with rogues, royalty, merchants and bawdy wenches.

Feast on specialties from around the world, including breakfast pastries, filo pies, Tuscan Feast,, seafood salad, chicken cordon blue, tortellini salad peasant bread, hot apple dumplings, fish and chips fired clams, shish-ka-bobs, tempura vegetables,,royal puffs, steak-on-a-stake, turkey legs, tiramisu and much more. The Sterling Renaissance Festival features the rich bounty of the award winning wines of New York State at the wine tasting booth.

New York Renaissance Faire

August 4-September 23, 2007 weekends

The New York Renaissance Faire is being held is Sterling Fairgrounds - Tuxedo, NY on weekends from August 4 through September 23, 20097. The faire is held on Saturdays and Sundays. Labor Day Monday will also be open.

The magical realm of sixteenth century England comes to life in New York. The kingdom is filled with entertainment, strolling characters, music, combat and music. Visitors can spend a merry day wandering throughout 35 acres of entertainment, food stands and a craft marketplace with over 100 shoppes.

There is plenty of entertainment at the Fair. Robin Hood and his merry band of thieves plan to outwit the evil Sheriff of Nottingham with a story that weaves throughout the day. Intrigue abounds as the Duke of Norfolk makes a play to capture the crown. The fine Elizabethan production "A Midsummer Night's Dream" will be presented on the Sherwood Forest Stage. Shows includes The Mudd Brothers, The Amazing Danny Lord, EarthQuest's Birds of Prey and Bears Show and more.

The fair features themed weekends. Upcoming weekends include:

August 4-5: Amber Bock Weekend with a celebration of German beer and Michelob's Amber-Bock..
August 11-12: Costume Weekend: Costumed guests receive $1 off admission.
August 18-19: Grand Finale Weekend.

The marketplace features over 100 artisans selling their handcrafted wares. The 16th century village comes to live s the crafters appears in authentic costume, speaking the Queens English. Artists at the craft marketplace demonstrate skill at blowing glass, forging iron, crafting leather work and more. Visitors will be able to purchase armor, candles, chain, Maile, garments, pottery, footwear, jewelry, toys, leather, musical instruments, perfumes, pewter, sculpture, souvenirs, wood and more.

Whether your appetite is hearty or dainty, it will be satiated with the fine food at the faire. Samples turkey legs, . Greek gyros, steak-on=a=stake, spinach pye, Falafel, Pizza, apple dumpling, cake, chocolate and much more. Wash the food down with a drought of beer or glass of mead, wine or pop.
