Renaissance Fairs in California in May

Come, all ye knights and ladies, to a medieval celebration! Renaissance fairs provide fine adventures for all ages! And there are a number to attend in California in the month of May.

Queen Bess and the Pyrates - Located in Fresno, California, this fair will be held one weekend in early May 2008 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday and 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Sunday. Tickets will be approximately $6 per person. Those wishing to attend in period attire must keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. Two days of "legally sanctioned pillaging, swashbuckling and adventuring" await visitors to this pirate festival. There will be exquisite booty from the seas, exotic foods, the finest ales, and much more. Entertainment will include several intriguing demonstrations of the sea faring life, rousing musicians, sensational jugglers, and other performers to delight and excite attendees. Cains Crossing Renaissance Faire - Located approximately 45 miles north of Sacramento in Auburn, California. This fair is held May 12th - May 13th from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm on Saturday and 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday, with a special students-only School Day on Friday May 11th from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students ages 5 - 12 and seniors, and free for children under age 4. Those who wish to dress in period attire will be required to keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. Highlights include captivating music and dancing, and dramatic sword fighting. Koroneburg European Old World Festival - Located approximately 45 miles east of Los Angeles in Corona, California. This fair will be held weekends May 12th - June 10 and May 28th from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm on Saturdays and 11:00 am - 6:00 pm on Sundays. Saturday May 26th the fair will be open until 9:00 pm. Parking will be free. This is Southern California's only permanent renaissance village. Those wishing to dress in costume will need to keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. Tickets are $16 for adults, $8 for kids ages 6 - 12 and seniors ages 62 and over, children under age 6 are admitted free. The tourney field will host suspenseful full contact jousting every afternoon. Visitors can watch impressive battle pageants and thrilling archery demonstrations daily. Performers on several stages throughout the fair will provide continuous entertainment every day, in addition to characters wandering the festival providing merriment for attendees. Lake Casitas Renaissance Faire - Located approximately 85 miles west of Los Angeles in Ojai, California. This fair will be held the weekend of May 19th - 20th from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Parking will be $3. Tickets will be $15 for adults, $7 for kids under 12 years old, and $12 for seniors age 62 and older. Those who wish to dress in costume will need to keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. Visitors may bring food and drinks, but alcoholic beverages may not be brought into the fair. There will be consecutive performances on 3 stages. A children's' play area is located next to the village site.
