Renaissance Fairs in California in September

Attention knights and ladies! The queen commands you to attend a renaissance fair! And there are a number that occur in California during the month of September.

Northern California Renaissance Faire - Located approximately 95 miles south of San Francisco in Hollister, California. This fair will be held weekends September 8th - October 14th from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Tickets will be $25 for adults and $10 for children. Tickets will be available for online purchase soon. Parking will be free. Those who wish to dress in costume will be required to keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. Picnics may be brought in, but alcoholic beverages will not be allowed in from outside the fair. Special events include full-contact jousting. Several performers will bring the atmosphere of and English village at harvest time alive for visitors with rowdy entertainment and a bustling marketplace. Truckee Renaissance Faire - Located approximately 98 miles east of Sacramento in Truckee, California. This fair will be held at the Truckee Regional Park September 15th - 16th from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm on Saturday and 10:00 am - 5:00 pm on Sunday. Parking will be $5. Tickets will be $10 for adults, and $5 for seniors ages 65 and older and kids ages 12 and. Those wishing to dress in period attire must keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. This is a non-smoking event. Visitors will enjoy beautiful music, astonishing magic shows, exciting sword fights and demonstrations, and much more. Freedom Faire at the Shire of Trottingham - Located approximately 215 miles east of Modesto in Bishop, California. This fair will be held September 22nd - 23rd from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. Parking will be free. Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6 - 12, and free for children ages 5 and under. Those who wish to dress up must keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. Several renaissance guilds, performers, and merchants will recreate the feel of medieval England under the rule of Queen Elizabeth against a backdrop of the Eastern Sierra and White Mountain Ranges. Gold Coast Pirate Faire - Located approximately 20 miles south of Santa Barbara at Lake Casitas near Ventura, California. This piratical fair will be held weekends September 22nd - 30th from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Parking will be $3. Tickets will be $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $7 for kids ages 12 and under. Special events include children costume contests for ages 1 - 8 and 8 - 12, with all entrants receiving a prize. Visitors may bring food and drinks, but alcoholic beverages will not be allowed to be brought into the fair. Pirates and buccaneers with varying degrees of respectability will entertain attendees while merchants seek to get rid of valuable plunder.
