Looking for the Carbondale/Murphysboro faire too. We've gone every October for the past 3 years and it's been small but very nice. Hope it's still active.

I really don't know the name. I think it might be the Southern Illinois Renaissance Fair. I don't know who is sponsoring it either, this year. I heard it would be the Medieval Combat group at SIU Carbondale. Moonshadow did an AC article last year which is still posted. I have no idea if she's following up.

Nick, what is the name of the fair in Murphrysboro? While doing these articles, I ran across several that either gave no indication they would be running or said outright that they were closed, so I didn't include them. If the information I used was inaccurate, I'm sorry. I'm willing to do an individual article if I can find out more :)

There's a small RenFair in Murphrysboro that's about four years old. Takes place in the fall. Last year it was on the grounds of the General John A. Logan Museum and included performances, a handful of vendors, as well as medieval weapons buffs from SIU Carbondale putting on demonstrations and beating the heck out of each other. It was a lot of fun...as I say, small but nice. My girlfriend and I will be there this year selling used books, weather permitting, since we don't have a tent. It's still early though and I'll have to play some phone tag to get the proper contact person for the date and all.

You have done quite impressive work collecting this information about Renaissance fairs throughout the country and presenting it in a systematic, organized way. Whenever I seek to attend a Renaissance fair, your articles will be the first resources I consult.
