Iowa Renaissance Festival - Located approximately 24 miles southwest of Cedar Rapids in Middle Amana, Iowa. This fair will be held in early May 2008 from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm. Parking will be free. Tickets will be an estimated $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 8 - 14, and free for children ages 7 and under. Those who wish to dress in costume will be required to keep blades sheathed and peace-tied, and will be permitted unloaded period firearms only. Most pets will be allowed. Visitors will witness daring sword fights, outrageous comedy, captivating music, enchanting storytelling, and many more performances onstage and around the village. Skilled artisans will offer their finely crafted items while delicious period foods and drinks add to the festive atmosphere. Renaissance Faire of the Midlands - Located approximately 4 miles east of Omaha, Nebraska in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the Westfair Fairgrounds. This fair will be held June 15th - 17th from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm on Friday with Ribbon Cutting at 4:30 pm, 10:00 am - 7:00 pm on Saturday, and 10:00 am - 6:00 pm on Sunday. Parking will be free. Tickets will be $14 for adults, $7 for active military with ID, $5 for kids ages 5 - 12, and free for children ages 4 and under. Visitors can bring a can of food to the front gate to receive $2 off any ticket. Those wishing to dress up will not be allowed to carry firearms, and must keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. A special feature of this festival will be the Wee Folkes Glen with games, rides, and crafts for younger guests. Visitors will enjoy thrilling jousting, astonishing magic, hilarious comedy, beautiful music, engaging interactive storytelling, and much more. Vendors will be offering delectable foods and refreshing beverages fit for royalty, while talented craftspeople will be selling unique, high quality items such as musical instruments, art, jewelry, perfume, clothing, and leather goods.
