Renaissance Fairs in Pennsylvania in May and June

Attention noble knights and fine ladies! Are ye perchance looking for a renaissance fair with fantastical flair? There are several that occur in Pennsylvania during the month of May.

May Day Fairie Festival - Located approximately 42 miles south of Harrisburg in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania at Spoutwood Farm. This fair will be held one weekend in early May from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 3 - 12, and free for children ages 2 and under. Visitors can bring their own picnics if they wish. Patrons will enjoy captivating music, delightful storytellers, fine dancers, and various strolling performers throughout the grounds. The fair will also feature Tea Parties, a Treasure Hunt, craft activities, nature and garden walks, and fairie habitats to explore. Kutztown Renaissance Faire - Located approximately 18 miles west of Allentown in Kutztown, Pennsylvania at Kutztown University. This fair will be held one weekend in early May from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Parking and admission will be free. Those wishing to dress in period attire will be required to keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. No alcohol will be sold or permitted. Visitors will enjoy hilarious comedy, dangerous fire-eating, exotic belly dancing, and more performances. Midsummer Renaissance Faire - Located approximately 28 miles north of Allentown in Lehighton, Pennsylvania. This fair will be held weekends June 2nd - 10th from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm. Parking will be free. Tickets will be $15 for adults, $7 for kids ages 5 - 12, and free for children ages 5 and under. Those who choose to dress in costume will need to keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. Visitors can watch entertaining and educational demonstrations in blacksmithing, glassblowing, beadwork, leatherworking, woodcarving, jewelry making, and wool spinning. There will be knights engaging in thrilling sword fights, storytellers weaving engaging tales, musicians playing fine melodies, and many more shows. Western Pennsylvania Fairie Festival - Located approximately 51 miles north of Pittsburgh in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania at Coopers Lake Campground. This fair will be held June 9th - 10th from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm on Saturday and 10:00 am - 6:00 pm on Sunday. Parking will be free. Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 3 - 12, and free for children ages 2 and under. Those who wish to dress up will not be allowed to carry weapons. Visitors will be entertained by enchanting music, absorbing storytelling, mysterious magic, and more. Merchants will be selling beautiful jewelry, art, home decor, and many more items. Celtic Fling & Highland Games - Located approximately 33 miles east of Harrisburg in Manheim Pennsylvania. This festival will be held June 22nd - 24th from 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm on Friday and 11:00 am - 10:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets will be $25 for adults and $10 for kids. Those wishing to attend dressed to "kilt" will not be allowed to carry weapons. There will be Irish Dance and Highland Games competitions and glassblowing demonstrations, as well as various Clans and Societies who will be available to answer questions about the Celtic influence in American culture.     Renaissance fairs really are a lot of fun for the whole family, and with some discipline they can be fairly inexpensive too. But the stuff the craftspeople sell can be really tempting :)
