Renaissance Fairs in South Dakota and Nebraska

Good morrow, noble lords and maidens! Verily I say to thee that renaissance fairs are full of great medieval fun for all ages! And there are a number to attend in South Dakota and Nebraska.

Siouxland Renaissance Festival - Located approximately 88 miles north of Sioux City, Iowa in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This fair will be held June 2nd - 3rd from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm on Saturday and 10:00 am - 6:00 pm on Sunday. Parking will be free. Tickets will be $8 for adults, $5 for seniors ages 60 and older and kids ages 4 - 12, and free for children ages 3 and under. Those who wish to dress in period attire will be required to keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. Special features include a Children's Realm with crafts and activities such as leather crafting and soda straw weaving, and a petting zoo. Astonishing magic, charming storytelling, exciting jousting, enchanting music, fascinating re-enactments provided by the Society for Creative Anachronism, and many more fine performances will delight visitors. Merchants will be selling high quality handcrafted items such as clothing, leather goods, jewelry, soaps, and weapons while vendors will offer delicious period foods and refreshing drinks. Nebraska Renaissance Faire - Located approximately in Omaha, Nebraska at Scary Acres. This fair will be held May 26th - 28th from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm. Parking will be free. Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 8 - 13, and free for children ages 7 and under. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in uniform will be admitted for free. Those wishing to dress in costume will need to keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. Visitors will enjoy entertaining and educational trebuchet and blacksmith demonstrations, daring sword fights, exotic belly dancing, thrilling jousts, rowdy pirate shows, surprising magic, outrageous comedy, and several other shows. Four living history encampment groups will offer a glimpse into the times long past. For the younger guests a number of children's activities will be provided. Several skilled artisans will be offering many finely crafted wares, and vendors will sell a wide variety of delectable foods and beverages.     I was born in Omaha. Hate the place. Amusing to see their Fest only runs one weekend. heh.
