Renaissance Festival Podcast : Compilation CD by Marc Gunn

CD Review

Lynn Pritchett
Marc Gunn is a most talented folk singer and songwriter, living in Austin, Texas. His musical talent ranges from Irish drinking songs and Celtic ballads to American folk songs, acoustic Alternative Folk, and podcasting. Marc Gunn's newly released project focuses on preserving performances, formerly only witnessed live at Renaissance festivals across the United States.

This new release, titled: Renaissance Festival Podcast: Compilation CD, is available now at CDBaby, by MP3 transfer or on CD, just in time for St. Patrick's Day. Coincidentally, Marc Gunn was born on St. Patrick's Day, so his love of all things Irish and Celtic and even of the Renaissance Age is quite natural.

Listening to Renaissance Festival Podcast: Compilation CD is as if passing through the gate of any Renaissance festival in America. Old world style comedy and music begins immediately. This CD doesn't disappoint in the slightest detail!

It is nearly ritualistic to be accosted-in-jest by any number of similar characters, upon arrival to any Renaissance festival, and 'Crazy Leo' seems to jump right out of the CD at the get-go, with his act "Crazy Leo's Indulgences." Enjoy the laugh, sit back, and let the Renaissance Festival Podcast take you away to fun, frivolity, and a beautiful melodious adventure.

The compilation is also true to Renaissance festival music traditions. Choosing an absolute favorite within this treasure chest is impossible. The unexpected fast pace and wry humor of "Finnegan's Wake," by Marc Gunn, and "Pudding Song," by Seymoure, chase away every shred of sadness in one's soul. "Bedlam Boys/ Bear Dance" by the Bedlam Boys, and "Mary Mac" by Bramblebush, keep the music lover yearning for more, as do all the toe-tapping treasures on Renaissance Festival Podcast: Compilation CD.

This compilation fills every entertainment niche from hammered dulcimer to a cappella, and everything in-between: rock, folk, classic Celtic, and zany comedy.

I do like some renaissance music and this appears to fill in some gaps in what is available out there. I enjoyed your review more than I can say or more than 5 stars can convey (:

Having no knowledge of Gunn, I was finished with the first three paragraphs so quickly I had to go back and see how you hooked me. I really like the flow of those initial paragraphs!
