Re-naming Monday

James R. Ford
Oh, Monday.

Your time is up.

Known you since birth. You happen once a week. Always dull. Always boring. Always Monday.
I didn't name it. Been here for centuries. The Greeks and Romans named practically evrything. The days, the months, the planets.
But no one likes Monday. How sad.

My first thought of renaming it was The Day after Sunday. Or Almost Tuesday.
How about Sandwich? Everyone likes a good sandwich.
Name it after a woman. Debbie. Susan. Julia. Maureen.
Or my first romantic love, Mindy.

How about Vulva?
Has a certain ring to it. Makes people smile and laugh.

Everyone must have a certain name they'd like to rename Monday with.
For the past 29 weeks, I've been calling it Oswald.
Nice to talk to friends and stangers and wish them a Happy Oswald.

People smile. They understand.
We have done something. We have rid ourselves of the dreadful Monday. Once and for all.

So when you get up and get going on the day after Sunday, wish someone a Happy Oswald.
You'll be glad you did.

Like when I used to ask my uncle why he was going fishing.
And he would say 'Just for the halibut.'
