Rent a Washer and Dryer Instead of Buying Them

Sabrina Martin
Did you know that you can rent a washer and dryer? I'm not talking about rent to own or anything like that. You can actually rent a washer and dryer, with no obligation and no interest to pay, and return it whenever you want.

I didn't know this was an option until I moved into the place I'm currently living. It's an apartment complex, and the leasing consultant told me and my boyfriend when we moved in that if we wanted to rent a washer and dryer to let them know and they'd have them delivered to our apartment.

We didn't have a washer and dryer at the time and so we decided to rent them. Doing so was a great choice for us, and here are some reasons why you might want to consider renting a washer and dryer yourself, instead of purchasing them.

1. You don't have the money to purchase a washer and dryer set.

It can be hard to come up with the cash needed to pay for a new washer and dryer. Renting is a great alternative. Although you still have to pay for the washer and dryer, you make smaller monthly payments instead of one giant upfront payment. And if for some reason you can't pay for them anymore or you don't need them, you can return them without owing anything or damaging your credit, as can happen in a rent to own or leasing situation.

2. Another reason you might consider renting a washer and dryer instead of purchasing them is if you aren't planning on living where you are for an extended period of time.

Say you're only going to be there for six months or a year. Is purchasing a washer and dryer really necessary? If you're not going to be in the same place for very long or you move around a lot it may be a better choice to rent a washer and dryer.

3. If you don't want to worry about repairs then you'll want to rent a washer and dryer.

If something goes wrong with them, the company that provided the washer and dryer will take care of the maintenance.

These are just a few reasons you might want to rent a washer and dryer instead of buying them. You may have reasons of your own. It's good to know that if you can't afford to purchase a washer and dryer or you simply don't want to, there is another option.

The price to rent a washer and dryer is different for each company that you can rent appliances from. I pay $40.00 a month for mine.

How can you find out where to rent a washer and dryer? If you live in an apartment community talk to someone in the leasing center to find out if your complex partners with a specific company that rents appliances. If they do, this may be the cheapest, easiest, and most convenient way to go.

If you don't live in an apartment community, or you're complex doesn't offer this option, just type "washer and dryer rentals" into the Google maps search engine, followed by your address and city. This should bring up a number of options to choose from.
