REO Speedwagon Rocks Turner Field

The rock band REO Speedwagon helped Atlanta Braves fans celebrate a win and a playoff birth at Turner Field on Oct. 3.

Following the Braves 8-7 victory over the Philadelphia Philles, which was also Braves' manager Bobby Cox's last regular season game, the band took center stage near second base and cranked out close to 10 of their classic hits such as Take It on the Run, Back on the Road Again and Can't Fight This Feeling.

The concert was free with paid admission to the Braves game.

Some fans paid extra to have the privilege of being on the field with the band and they were not disappointed.

Lead singer, Kevin Cronin, who signed with REO in 1972, cranked out tunes and changed shirts during the performance.

The 59-year-old Cronin and bandmates, Dave Amato, Bruce Hall, Neal Doughty, and Bryan Hitt cranked out their tunes on Turner Field in a chilly wind with the San Fransciso Giants vs. San Diego Padres blaring on the screen in the background.

Fans in the stands listened to the songs of their childhood and teenage years.

After about an hour, Cronin left the stage and paid a visit to the stands.

Fans by the dugouts got an up close view of the lead singer and watched as he ran to the pitcher's mound and belted out some notes.

One lucky young girl got to walk with Cronin from the stage on the field.

After the performance, Cronin posted on the group's Facebook page that REO had dinner with music and medical professionals.

The dinner benefitted the Atlanta Chapter of the T.J. Martell Foundation which researches cancer.

The concert was one of many REO has performed this year and they are not done yet.

Upcoming concert dates include: Clearwater Florida; Panama City, Beach Florida; Clinton, Oklahoma Newkirk, Oklahoma, Grand Ronde, Oregon; Tacoma Washington, and Miami, Florida.

If your a child of 80s music you have to see one of the best bands of our time perform.

Their hair maybe white and faces a little wrinkled but they can still belt tunes out and rock the place or in this case the stadium.

I am hardly a child of the 80s, but did like some of their songs. The after concert benefit dinner is nice to read about in addition to concert details.
