Rep: Dolly Parton is Not Dead

Rosa Hayes
Dolly Parton is not dead despite what is circulating the internet. The rumor that Dolly Parton is dead may have started after a high school announced it at a football game on Friday night. It is yet to be determined which high school started the rumor or why. Parton's public relations agent has stated that Dolly Parton is indeed a live and well, as reported by WBIR.

As someone who is intrigued in the news and often writes about it, I tried to contact Pete Owens who is the public relations agent for Dolly Parton, but received no answer. I imagine that they are being bombarded with telephone calls asking if Dolly Parton is dead.

Rumors are often started and many of them tend to come true or were true all along. Before Bernie Mac died, there was a rumor stating that he wasn't in the best condition and his representative said that he was alive and well. Bernie Mac may have been alive but he was obviously not well since he died on a couple of days after the rumor had started.

Many websites are claiming that Dolly Parton is dead and one on Digg has even cited its source but when you go to the website that supposedly made the claim on Parton being dead, you will not find anything. I searched further and found that the person who made the claim on Digg also stated that the source has not put up the information on Dolly Parton yet. If there is one thing that I have learned about news and writing for the internet it is to always cite your sources and make sure that they will back up the claim. You can view the claim on Dolly being dead on Digg.com.

Something like Dolly Parton is dead goes viral on the internet because Parton is a famous celebrity and something of this sort would make many people along with her fans, sad. Dolly Parton being dead has not been in the news much other than her reps claiming that the rumor is not true. The main places that you will see something like this rumor is on blogs since the news can not report something unless they know for certain whether or not it is true.
