1. Eat a healthy diet and get plenty of good fatty acids. You can find fatty acids in foods such as fish, walnuts, seeds, spinach and other dark green leafy vegetables. You may also want to take a flax seed oil supplement. goodfats.pamrotella.com/ The fatty acids also help promote healthy skin and nails.
2. Wash your hair 2 or 3 times a week. Shampoo may wash away natural oils causing your hair to become dry. Use conditioner daily, one that is formulated for dry hair is best. When conditioning your hair be sure to focus on the roots and the tips of your hair.
3. Use mayonnaise in your hair to condition it. It may not sound very appealing but it works. Depending on the individual the mayonnaise should be left on your hair from any where between 5 minutes to an hour. Wash your hair after needed time with a gentle shampoo and luke-warm water.
4. Give your hair a cold shock! After shampooing and conditioning your hair use cold water to close the cuticles and help seal the moisture from your natural oils.
5. Give yourself a scalp massage when shampooing and/or conditioning your hair. Instead of scrubbing or scratching gently massage the shampoo or conditioner into your scalp using your fingertips. The massage will help stimulate oil glands.
6. Use an hot oil treatment. Hot oil treatment can be purchased at most local retailers use hot oil as directed on the package instructions.
7. Avoid brushing your hair when it is wet, use a wide toothed comb on your hair when it is wet. Brush your hair only when it is dry and start from the root of the hair and use smooth strokes to the tip.
8. Have those frayed ends cut off often, every 6 to 8 weeks is recommended by most stylists.
9. Protect your hair from the natural elements such as wind, sun, and cold by wearing hats. These natural elements can cause frayed ends and hair to dry out.
10. Try to avoid using heating products such as curling irons, hot rollers and hair dryers on your hair. These products take away natural oils from the hair and cause damage. If you must use a hair dryer then set it to the lowest setting available and also use the diffuser that comes with it. Using the diffuser will also aid in frizz prevention.
These are only some of the tips available and tips that have worked for me personally.
