Repairing the Irreparable: Relationships

Is Fixing Your Broken Heart Worth It?

Brian
Relationships - elementary school, middle school, and high school all see their fair share of these complex love circles. Some can be wonderful. Some lead to a lasting marriage. However, relationships that only lead to heartache and grief are all too common. Why keep holding on when it is time to let go?

Lets face the facts. Most relationships are not headed to the altar. Your high school sweetheart is your high school sweetheart. Some, thankfully, will remain your high school sweetheart for the rest of your lifetime and an overwhelming amount will prove otherwise. If you find yourself involved with an individual who has cheated on you numerous times, or if you are involved with somebody you are on and off with more than a light switch, or if you are a victim of an abusive relationship, why continue holding on?

If you open up an average teenagers diary, I can assure you that seven out of ten times you will be reading of relationship complications. It is an unfortunate yet all too common situation where an irreparable relationship is unintentionally being damaged further by trying to be forcefully repaired.

"Let me let go" is a powerful quote, which at times needs to be adhered to. Let the relationship go. Step one is acknowledging something is wrong. If the bruises on your heart are meeting newer bruises daily, why continue? Why put your heart through any further abuse and suffering? Weigh the possibilities. Is it healthier to say no to your heart and listen to your logical side or is it in your best interest to continue having your heart break until it cannot break any further?

Your heart may be as beautiful and pure as a diamond, but it is not indestructible like one. Your heart can only handle a limited amount of pain, as can your well-being. It is best you learn this before your heart has been shattered and bruised beyond repair.

By holding on too long you are losing more chances of mending what was once thought to be irreparable - your heart. As cliché as it is, there is somebody out there for you. Somebody is craving your kiss and touch as much as you are craving theirs. Love is one of the most powerful emotions known to man. Though finding a new love may seem hopeless in the depth of heartache, it is not. One failed relationship does not guarantee continuing failed relationships. It is not the end of the road.

Though your high school sweetheart may not always remain your high school sweetheart, there will be newer and better sweethearts in your life if you allow your heart to make room for them. It is time to move out the old, dusty relationships and clean up with newer, pristine ones.
