Reports of IPhone 3GS Overheating Issues

Apple's iPhone 3GS is hot, its so hot in fact that several users of the phone have reported it overheating, getting very hot to the touch while playing games and using the GPS. Users of the white iPhone 3GS are showing overheating signs of burnt backs, as it would be easier to see the burn marks on the white phone then the black one. What kind of danger or fire hazard this poses is impossible to say at this point so early in the game, but the burnt backs of the iPhone 3GS and the overall hot feeling of the phone could be precursors to more serious overheating issues.

The iPhone 3G had overheating issues of its own, but they were supposed to be remedied with this new iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 3G was notoriously hot to the touch, and many users complained of how hot it felt in their hands when playing games or web browsing.

Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of the early reports of the iPhone 3GS overheating is the fact that the entire back of the white 3GS turns a burnt brown color. This type of discoloration seems to indicate a serious design flaw in some of the phones that makes them overheat while running certain kinds of apps. Using the GPS makes the phone run extremely hot as well.

One user of the iPhone 3G reported on a message board forum that he fell asleep with the phone in his pocket and woke up with a burned leg, and the back of the phone literally melted. This is particulary disturbing as the phone actually caused bodily harm to the user. Another user reported on a message board forum the the iPhone 3G literally burst into flames in his pocket. The iPhone 3GS has only been out since June 19th, so theyre aren't that many reports of it overheating yet, but the early reports seem to indicate that the phone runs just as hot as its predecessor, if not hotter. Which is not very encouraging for people wanting to upgrade from the iPhone 3G to the iPhone 3GS.

In conclusion, there have been early reports of the iPhone 3GS overheating, in some cases even turning the back of the phone a brown and discolored color around the battery.
