According to coverage, a 21 year old man is in custody in relation to the shooting. It is unknown at this time whether he is the shooter, an accomplice or a key witness.

There are also conflicting reports about the Congresswoman and what her condition is. While CNN is going on the side of caution and reporting that Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is hopefully alive and in emergency surgery.

This is all very new information as of 2:30 PM Eastern Time.

There have already been suggestions that "Right Wing" rhetoric may have been responsible for the shooting by whipping certain individuals into an unneccesary frenzy. Making them believe that their country is under siege and that it was up to them to take their country back.

The rhetoric of Sarah Palin with her famous, "Reload" speech certainly didn't help matters and goes to show how important the words politicians choose to use need to be.

Time and again, MSNBC broadcaster Keith Olbermann have warned that the irresponsible rhetoric of "Right Wing" talk show hosts such as Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh are the ones who whip people into a frenzy.

Many times, the "Right Wing" has been accused of whipping fringe groups into a frenzy that would eventually prod them into acting and possibly shooting someone.

It is too soon to tell whether the shooting of Representative Giffords shooting is in any way tied into the rhetoric from the "Right Wing" talk show hosts but even neutral news organizations such as CNN are speculating on this information.

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was point blank in the head at a local Safeway grocery store during a planned public appearance and "meet and greet" with her constituents.

According to University Hospital Spokeswoman at the emergency room that Giffords was taken to has confirmed that Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was in fact shot and struck in the head by the bullet fired at her. At least 5 other people have been wounded or killed in the attack.

According to witnesses, there doesn't seem to be a Police search for suspects which suggests that the 21 year old in custody is likely the shooter.

NASA Astronaut Mark Kelly, the husband of Gabrielle Giffords released a family photo on the popular social networking site, Twitter.

Ear Witness Jason Jakau said he heard at least 15 shots fired along with screaming from the Congresswoman and others in the direct vicinity.

Speaker of the House of Representative John Boehner released the following statement regarding the shooting of Representative Giffords.

"I am horrified by the senseless attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and members of her staff. An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve. Acts and threats of violence against public officials have no place in our society. Our prayers are with Congresswoman Giffords, her staff, all who were injured, and their families. This is a sad day for our country."
