Republican Party:Modern Day Chicken Little

Do you remember the story of Chicken Little from your childhood? The little chicken who ran around proclaiming that the sky was falling?

Well, those same words are being echoed today, except it's the Republican Party, not the little chicken that is saying them.

For years, America has known that the health care industry, much like the petroleum industry (that's another article altogether) was out of control and needed to be reformed.

With health care bankrupting thousands of American families every year it was obvious that the system needed change.

The current health care plan proposed by President Obama's health care team provides a good start in the direction of reforming the health care industry.

The Republican Party wants Americans to believe that Obama's plan will force individuals to leave their present health care provider to join a "government run" plan which will control when and how much a person can see their doctor, when in fact all health care plans have limitations on doctor visits and coverage.

It seems that the Republican Party has learned well from the previous administration's philosophy of "when you want the American public to follow your direction, scare them into submission."

This "sky is falling" tactic being used by republicans is old, outdated and simply insulting to the intelligence of the American people.

The truth is, the health care costs are being driven up by the uncovered patients' costs that have to be absorbed by the medical facilities when those patients cannot pay for services. That cost is passed on to everyone else who has health coverage, which creates an endless cycle of escalating health care costs.

Providing low cost health care coverage will provide those same patients with health care coverage that will pay for their medical services, thus keeping overall health care costs down or at least reasonable.

In all of the Republican Party's opposition, there has been no mention of another plan that they have developed.

That is because the Republicans have no plan except to attack the plan of the Democratic president.

Americans should have had enough of the Republican Party's "argue for the sake of arguing" plan of action.

With more than 47 million Americans without adequate health care coverage, it is no time to be playing political games with the lives of American citizens at stake.

There is a chant rising up from the belly of the American people and that chant is "health care now."
