Republicans Host "Code Red" Rally Under Tea Party Name

Code Red is a Rally in Washington Against Health Care Reform

Ryan Christopher DeVault
'Code Red,' a Republican sponsored protest, took place today in Washington. 'Code Red' showed off many signs and political buttons geared towards Government officials that are in favor of health care reform, and it was all done under the guise that it was just a Tea Party protest. There may have been Tea Party members and speakers there, but don't be fooled into believing that the Republican National Committee didn't pay for the travel and signage being used by the protesters. It's not that surprising that even the Republican National Committee is embarrassed to be associated with Tea Party protests, but not embarrassed enough to not foot the bill for it.

This has become a classic instance of one political party seeing that they share a common foe with another political party, and that it serves their interest to sponsor them. The reasons that the RNC wants to stay in the shadows are varied though, maybe including the fact that they don't approve of Tea Party speakers saying that senators should be hung like what happened at a Tea Party event in Washington State. It also doesn't mean that Republican Representatives are beyond appearing at these events, and in a day and age where it's just not cool to threaten a senator with being hung, we have yet to see a Republican senator or representative take a stance against those comments.

Is what the Tea Party and the Republican Party doing going to work in the end? Well if the question being asked is whether these movements will help kill health care reform, the answer is most likely a yes. This 'Code Red' that took place today appears to have included thousands of protesters who are against the bill on the table in both the House and Senate, pretending (of course) that they speak for a majority. With all of the people in this country that aren't receiving adequate health care, isn't there a better way that these protesters could spend their time? Maybe it's time that the Tea Party puts someone up for public office to show how much support they really have. Or maybe it's time the Republican Party stopped sponsoring someone else to do their dirty work.

PLEASE VOTE AGAINST THE CURRENT UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE BILL. It is too costly, no savings, increased cost now with implementation in 2014. I do not need the Government getting between my doctor and me. If and when I no longer think my insurance company is acting in my best interest I will fire them and hire a more completive one. What Congress should is regulate insurance companies and make them more completive across all 50 states without individual state setting their own regulations.

No one "footed the tab" for my being present at today's rally. I set my alarm, dressed my body and paid my own way into town to attend today's protest--and for a 67 year old lady who spent the early 60's in college in Boston to be attending a "protest" for the first time in her life, hoped to lend my voice to the throngs who are against both the take over of my health care AND the total disregard for accepted legislative process and the constitution of the United States!
