This means that when the people speak, Washington should listen! Guess what? Presumptive House Speaker, John Boehner, will now travel commercial back and forth from Washington to his hometown, according to Fox News.
During Pelosi's Speakership, she angered many by using military aircraft to fly between Washington and her hometown of San Francisco. Many could say the security risk was worth the cost of the military aircraft. With security at every turn, many might wonder if the expensive aircraft is just a perk that could be avoided. Is this another sign of the out-of-control spending in Washington that needs to be stopped? Boehner obviously thinks so, as he will not be following in Pelosi's footsteps.
Americans asked Washington to make changes. Traveling commercial could do exactly what Americans want. Could Boehner stop other politicians from spending endless amounts of money? He possibly could send the message to his constituents that it's a new day in Washington. Washington can and must listen to the will of the people. As with every election, the coming months are the truth-telling months for both parties. Who will do what they said they would do? Now, we wait for the truth to be revealed.
Could Flying Commercial be a Security Risk for Presumptive Speaker Boehner?
Because of the threat in our country, there could be pros and cons to Boehner's traveling commercial. He will not be using the military aircraft that comes with being second in line to the presidency. Could this present a bigger threat to our country by not using the military aircraft? Maybe and maybe not, as he will still have security with him.
The question remains how Washington can and should stop spending. We know from history that it only takes one to stand up and make a stand before others follow suit. It is the nature of human beings. There is a leader, and then there are followers. Boehner has made a stand. Now, let's watch to see what happens next. Could this lead to a new trend in Washington where politicians really listen to the American voters and find new ways to stop spending?
Do you think John Boehner is taking a risk?
