Requiem for an Addict

Charles B Reynolds
Gray, flat, lifeless walls.
Hollow, empty, narrow halls.
Memories filled with crumpled page.
Quiet embers, once fires rage.

Smokey, sullen distant room.
Evening mist pervades with gloom.
Shadows cast by neon lights.
Tragic glimpses, humans plights.

Sharp, steely, painful death.
Quick, short, labored breath.
Sadness, anger, flux and fade.
Pastel colors soon invade.

Cold, dark, damp, confined.
Flat, lifeless, empty mind.
Another's loss, no one's gain.
Cycles start and end in pain.
