Rescheduling Delta Flights Update for Northeast - Delta Offers Refunds, No Fee Rescheduling

Delta Flights to Baltimore, Boston, New York, Newark and Washington, D.C. Being Affected, but Delta Offers Refunds, No-fee Rescheduling

Delta ticket holders for any flights to, from, or through Baltimore, Boston, New York, Newark or Washington, D.C. can get a complete refund if your Delta flight is canceled or delayed today, Dec. 26 or tomorrow on Dec. 27, 2010.

Winter weather in Northeast

Delta is providing this service due to the winter weather currently being experienced in these Northeast areas and the potential for flight cancellation and delays.

Weather forecasters are predicting that snow fall and icy conditions will continue to assail the Northeast for the next 24 to 48 hours at least, forcing Delta and other airline carriers to have to cancel more flights and rearrange future schedules.

Delta Messenger system and flight updates

But passengers may not be aware that they can get a complete refund from Delta if that is the case. That is why it is important to use the Delta Messenger system.

Delta Messenger offers stranded passengers the ability to check on their flight status from their wireless device or an email account. This helps reduce some tension at the airport and reduces the need to seek an airline update elsewhere in the airport.

With the weather conditions being experienced, many travelers are unable to return home from the Christmas holidays and would prefer to stay in town with family instead of living at the airport. For these people Delta offers no-fee rescheduling.

No-fee flight rescheduling

Delta offers anyone wishing to reschedule any Delta airlines, Delta connection or Delta-coded flight--even if your flight wasn't canceled or delayed--the chance to do so without incurring a penalty, according to the airlines website.

But don't forget: changing your ticket may not result in a rescheduling fee by Delta but it will possibly result in a fare difference, which would have to be paid at the time of ticket change.

So your best bet may be to take the refund and go back to grandma's house for a few more days if you can. Your Christmas trip home might have to be a few more days than you expected, but the bright side is that your boss is sure to be stranded somewhere too.
