Researcher Seeks Mementos from a Female Movement

Photos and videos from the 1980s are being sought for a film about the lesbian movement, according to LC Magazine.

"I want to interview women from Canada, the U.S., France, Germany, Italy, and England," said Myriam Fougere, the documentary maker. "I would also like to find images of our gatherings or images representing the lifestyle of that era."

If necessary Fougere states that she can fix the images so that it will be impossible to recognize any women in the photographs or film.

In unrelated community news, three people have formed a nonprofit called Story Arts Group and they're making a documentary film about Adobeland which was located in Tucson, AZ and was a rich part of the international women's land movement.

Christopher Ciccone, the famous Madonna's brother, has an art exhibit going on in Dallas, TX through March 6 at the HCG Gallery located at 1130 Dragon Street #190. He incorporates Polaroids of his friends into his painting to construct his "deconstructed impressionism," according to writer Rich Lopez.

Also over in Dallas, March 7 there will be an Oscar Watching Party benefiting the Resource Center of Dallas in the Rose Room at Station 4. You can walk on the red carpet and predict your own winners and there will be games and fun with simulcast of the evening.

In other art news, Crossroads Live, the former Artistic Blends Coffee House in Fort Worth has been under construction for some time but the co-owner Kenneth Brown along with his wife Pam, also part owner, is hopeful that it will be opening soon.

"We have made progress though and I think there is light at the end of the tunnel," he said. "In order to move things along I have quit my job at the car dealership so that I will have time to invest in getting things done so that we can open."

In order for that to happen so that he can pay the bills while working on the renovations, Brown is putting the word out that he is available for magician performances on a full-time basis, something he has years of experience doing.

He will bring his talents to private and children's birthday parties, school fundraisers, church shows of all types, a new mentalism show called "The Truth about Truth," corporate special events, business training, team building, and motivational shows, day care, and assisted living and nursing homes.
