Until I had a baby, I had never heard of Resinol. After my daughter was born, the pediatrician recommended using it for diaper rash. I bought a jar and have not been without one since. It is wonderful!
Resinol is a medicated ointment that can be used for everything. Resinol has a very thick, waxy texture that makes it near water resistant. This makes it great to use on diaper rash. After discovering Resinol, diaper rash treatment was its main use at my house. If my children's bottoms' appeared red or irritated, I would rub some Resinol on them at night before bed. When we woke in the morning, their bottoms would be healed.
Later, we began to use it for all other types of skin irritations. Resinol is great for minor cuts and burns that the children get while playing outside. Both of my children know the ointment by name and ask for when they get a boo-boo. My husband and I also use it for rough, irritated, and chapped skin.
Most stores with a pharmacy carry Resinol. Wal-Mart keeps it out on the shelf. However, some stores keep it back inside of the pharmacy and you have to ask a pharmacy employee to get for you.
Although I love Resinol and someone in my family uses it almost daily, there are two things that I would change it make it an even better product to use. Resinol has a pink coloring. I would like to seen Resinol in a clear ointment. Resinol also has a very thick and waxy texture. If the children ever get it on their clothing or the furniture, or the carpet, it is very hard to remove because of its water resistant characteristics. However, I am sure that if the texture where changed, it would not work as well on diaper rash and irritation. Therefore, it is probably best for my family to just be extra careful about what materials the Resinol touches.
Overall, Resinol is a great product, especially for families with babies or small children. I recommend it to all of my friends and I have even given it as a part of a baby shower gift. Resinol is a good ointment for every member of the family.
