The video game "Resistance 3" came out for the Playstation 3 video game system in 2011 and her eis how it stacks up against the previous installments and other shooters.
"Resistance: Fall Of Man" was the very first video game I bought and played n my PS3. It started the Resistance series with an interesting first person shooter twist on history: man went to war against some sort of alien threat instead of Nazis and the like during the World War period. The single player campaign was fun and the online gameplay gave me months and months of entertainment. I still have fond memories of competitive matches played!
"Resistance 2" had a very short campaign mode, though it had some really fun moments and I liked the American settings. It did end on a rather depressing note though and the story was kind of a muddled science fiction who cares anymore kind of thing. The online play was supposed to be more epic than the original game, but for some reason: I never got it to work! I'm not sure what the issue was, but my copy of "Resistance 2" would never get me into an online match: not even one! I sold them game after holding it for months to see if the online would ever come around for me.
Now, on to "Resistance 3!" The Resistance series is a PS3 exclusive series, by the way.
"Resistance 3" has a fairly short campaign mode as well, though on the first play through you can take your time and enjoy it. Once again the setting is the American landscape, but this time the events are action filled, grand scale happenings. There are massive battles that you are thrown into and massive herds of gigantic creatures to witness and fight against. It was a lot of fun!
The story in the campaign mode does not get too heady with the science fiction talk and instead goes for a man wanting to save the world for his family and get back to them. It tries to throw in a lot of emotion, but plot-wise the story gives you a lot of missions and events that are just convenient space filler tasks.
The online play: stinks. I have already sold my copy and am reviewing this off of the maps already with the game, not any future pay to play downloads. The maps are fairly small and gameplay always ends up with both teams bottlenecked in the same spots on the maps and basically just butting heads against ech other. There is no true skill or strategy needed and eventually moat matches turned into one team being able to overwhelm the other and just trap them in their spawn base killing them as they come out.
"Resistance 3" is a fun rental for the campaign mode (though not at the high rental prices places like Blockbuster charge!," but the online play is not anything to get excited about. If you find a rental or used copy of the game you will have to buy your own online activation code to play online if the one time use code that came with the game has already been used. It is not worth it.
"Resistance: Fall Of Man" is the king out of this FPS PS3 trio. However, other FPS shooters will not be losing any players to the online community, "Call Of Duty" and "Battlefield" will rule the space. Xbox 360 users are not missing out and can stay happy with their "Halo."
