A few weeks ago our family decided to do something a bit different for Spring Break. We had spoke to a couple that recently took a trip to a water resort called "CoCo Key." They said that their children really enjoyed the resort and suggested that we try it out. I was a bit skeptical because my children are quite older than hers; teens, but the woman said that she was confident that they would have a good time. So after our conversation we decided to go ahead and make a visit.

"CoCo Key Water Resort" is designed after the "Key West" area and is bright in color, has a fun theme, and is open year round which is great in the winter months. Upon entering the resort we were immediately hit with the smell of chlorine which isn't unusual we just hadn't smelled it so strong before. The resort looks like a tropical island with a lot of different attractions such as an interactive water slide called "Parrot's Perch," "Coral Reef Cavern" is an activity pool where kids can play water basketball, "Palm Grotto" is an indoor/outdoor spa that has giant whirlpools, "Coconut Grove Adventure River" is a tube ride, "The Dip in Theater" is a wading pool for the little ones, and finally "Gator Gush," "Barracuda Blast," and "Pelican Plunge" are 3 water slides measuring 40 feet.

The resort also has a dining area that is set up with large wicker umbrellas and stools to sit on. You can eat at "Callaloo Grill" which houses "A&W Root Beer" and "Pizza Hut" or opt for a sit down dinner at the "Trade Winds Restaurant & Bar." For dessert or a beverage you can take a stroll to "Scooter's Coffee House" which is located in the resort.

"CoCo Key Water Resort" welcomes school groups, birthday parties, fundraiser events, and scout troops. Regardless of the reason it's a great place for kids to play year round.

Day passes are $25.00 if purchased for Fridays through Sundays, $15.00 for Mondays through Thursdays, and half day passes are $7.50. Annual passes are $69.95 per person and birthday party passes start at $10.95 up to $27.95.

In the end our boys did have a good time and my husband and I enjoyed the food; however I would suggest families with smaller children visit instead of those with teens.

"CoCo Key Water Resort" is located at 3321 South 72nd in the Omaha convention Center/Holiday Inn in Nebraska. Passes can be purchased on line at www.cocokeywaterresort.com or by calling 866-754-6960.
