Resources for Writers in Kansas

Rachel Soden
There are three main clubs and/or associations in Kansas that focus on catering to the writer and/or author. These clubs are KWI (KS Writers, Inc), KAC (Kansas Authors Club) and KWA (Kansas Writer's Association).

Kansas Writers, Inc

"KS Writers Inc. supports and educates writers, no matter where they are on their writing journey. Whether you're learning your craft or are a multi-published author, KWI creates an environment that enhances your writing skills and expands your network of people who find joy in the written word."(http://kswritersinc.com)

KS Writer's Inc meetings meet at the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library on the 4th Saturday of every month. Potential members are invited to attend a couple meetings before making the decision to join. There is an application and $20 fee to join the KWI. This fee will give you access to the KWI monthly newsletter, the annual KWI writing retreat as well as the Topeka day long writing retreats. By associating with other published members you will get an in depth look at how the publishing process works.

KWI maintains a blog at www.kswriters.wordpress.com entitled KWI Word Warriors. This blog contains valuable information from members on writing as a profession, advice, writing technique and general blogging comments.

The Kansas Writer's Inc website contains information on the activities of its members as well as information regarding the association and information on how to join. They also provide resources such as links to the Romance Writers of America website and the Mystery Writers of America website.
