Restaurant Review: Annie Chan's in Queens, NY

Annie Chan's restaurant is located in Queens, NY and has a great selection of Chinese food. Annie Chan's Chinese restaurant is the type of restaurant in which you come with your family and order 4 or 5 different types of entrées because everything looks and tastes so good.

Annie Chan's is a modern looking Chinese restaurant but the inside interior decorations are very unique to Chinese culture as represented in the wallpaper and lighting. Most of the waiters and waitresses speak broken English but you can still communicate your order to them pretty well. Annie Chan's starts you off with a cup of tea served out of a fine china kettle. You also get noodles to mix in duck sauce or hot sauce. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly.

Parking: Everybody wants to know about the parking situation for a restaurant and I can hardly blame them. Parking is difficult to find at most restaurants and parking can be made a lot easier with valet parking or a parking lot that the restaurant owns. Unfortunately, Annie Chan's has neither, leaving parking to side streets and meters. However, most of the time you will be able to find a parking spot within a few blocks of the restaurant.

Annie Chan's restaurant specializes in several Americanized Chinese dishes, which include General Tsao's Chicken, Broccoli with beef dishes, peanuts and cashew mixed in an orange chicken sauce dish, lamb and veal. There is a dinner specials menu and dinner meals include a cup of soup, which is usually egg drop, egg drop with wonton, or sweet and sour soup. The main course dish has a wide selection and covers almost every type of meat offered at Annie Chan's. A desert is also covered in the price of dinner special, which is usually sorbet. Sorbet flavors include strawberry, raspberry, and mango. Dinner prices altogether add up to about $20 to $22 a person, which is very reasonable.

Annie Chan's really isn't suitable to children, although I have seen quite a few families bring their children. The reason is because the atmosphere is eerily quite and people talk in a very low voice. It is a great place to take someone on a date or for a couple to go to have dinner. The food takes a while to cook and children might have a hard time sitting still during that time period. Fine china is also used for all dishes, which make them very delicate.
Annie Chan's also offers a complimentary side dish of rice with your main course. They have white, brown and fried rice to go with your meal. I would personally recommend the fried rice, which is very good.
