Big City Diner is a retro restaurant that is low on fuss but high on quality. Prices are very reasonable whether you pay them a visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Big City Diner is one of the few places in Honolulu where you can enjoy breakfast all day long. Breakfast at Big City Diner is actually more Hawaiian than American, with little potatoes and bacon, but lots of rice, noodles, fish and Portuguese sausage.
Big City Diner is a truly terrific place to grab a quick lunch. The restaurant offers excellent burgers and ribs at a very affordable price. Dinner entrees include steaks and meatloaf, and huge delicious sandwiches.
Located at the Ward Entertainment Center, at 1060 Auahi Street in the Ala Moana section of Honolulu, Big City Diner is especially convenient if you are at the Ward Center to catch a film at the island's best movie theater. Service is always quick, always friendly, so you will be certain to catch your show.
The atmosphere of Big City Diner might make you feel like you stepped into an episode of Happy Days. The music will keep your spirits lifted, and the staff makes you feel right at home. You can enjoy sipping drinks at their full service bar or at your table, and you will want to be sure to save room for dessert. Their double-choco bread pudding is magnificent.
If you are paying a visit to Big City Diner after ten o'clock, you can also participate in karaoke. Not many diners on the mainland offer that. But Big City Diner is far from your typical big city diner, as you are certain to find out as soon as you step through the door.
In addition to the Ward Center location, Big City Diner can also be found at 3565 Wai'alae Avenue on the island of Oahu. You can call 808-591-8891 for current hours at the Ward Center location, and 808-738-8855 for current hours at the Wai'alae Avenue location.
On an island where just about everything feels just a bit more expensive, Big City Diner will seem like a terrific bargain. And you might just find yourself (as I did) paying the restaurant a visit time and time again.
Aloha and enjoy your visit to Big City Diner!
