On the morning of Friday, April 27, 2007, my husband and I met his grandparent at this new restaurant with an open-minds and empty stomachs. Though we left a little discourage, there is still hope yet.

From the moment I read the sign at the parking lot entrance I knew that things had changed in this little restaurant. If you'll remember, this place was our beloved Bunny's Hangout just a few short months ago. While, the building remains the same, most everything else has changed.

If you look closely at the sign it states the name Black Beary BESTAURANT, this is not a mere restaurant, also known as the 3B's. Now, my first item of concern was for the new entrance situation. They have you enter the restaurant through the side door that leads to the lounge. Let me be clear in saying that the lounge is not open during their breakfast and lunch hours, however the idea of taking my child through a bar to get to breakfast did not sit well with me.

The place was impeccably clean inside and outside and the inviting umbrella tables remind me to come back on a warm summer afternoon. The décor, though a little clique, is fitting for our small mining town, all done up in western and mining tools. The menu is also reflective of that time with such items as the Logger's Favorite, biscuits and gravy with your choice of sausage or bacon on top served with a side of fried potatoes. It's great in taste and the price is right at $6.00, but my husband felt it was lacking in portion to be called a Logger's Favorite.

I ordered the cinnamon-raisin French toast and was pleased and for me portion and price were just right. Our fellow diners, Bob & Donna Armor, were both pleased with their meals as well.

The service was great and our waitress was friendly. The one other complaint that I had was the baby highchair situation. While, they do have available the baby highchairs, I would strongly recommend that they be maintenance. We took our 9 month old son; the first high chair we got from our server lacked the buckle on the seat belt. The second high chair had the required buckle, but came undone every time he moved a little.

With the high chairs fixed my family would be much more inclined to go back there and depending on when the bar hours are going to be, it would only be during the breakfast hours, unless the entrance options are opened up a little.

But, regardless, and taking into account that they just opened and are offering something new to try in our small town of not very many dining choices (as least not original ones), the Black Beary Bestaurant is a great choice for breakfast. They are open at 7 am Monday through Saturday, and have plenty of seating for your family. Seeing their potential and the great food they have to offer we give them two forks (and, one baby spoon) up.
