Great Specials and Food Worth Waiting For

Boston's Gourmet Pizza, which is based out of the Boston Pizza company in Canada, offers a wide range of food to compliment all tastes. Diners can choose from creative personal pizzas, salads, pasta dishes, sandwiches, and tempting desserts. There are also two great specials that you can take advantage of, which is the main focus of this review. A little over a year ago, Boston's joined the many famous chain restaurants on Highland Park Boulevard in Wilkes-Barre Township.

On my most recent visit, a sign on every table talked about the Triple Play special. With this, you got to select from a few choices for a starter, an entrée, and a dessert. There are flip cards on each table so you can see exactly what you are getting. All of this costs just $12.99 and you order all at once so your server can time putting in each part of your order.

For my Triple Play, I had the Caesar salad, the ultimate pepperoni pizza, and the chocolate brownie addiction for dessert. The salad comes out first and it is in a small side dish. It is made with lettuce, parmesan cheese, croutons, and a creamy Caesar dressing. It is a soft salad instead of one with crunchy lettuce, but it does not feel soggy at all. The side portion is enough to tide you over until your next course.

The ultimate pepperoni pizza was a small individual sized pie cut into six slices. It is topped with full sized and dice pepperoni slices. Although it is pretty greasy, that doesn't take anything away from the taste of fontina and mozzarella cheeses. The slices are small enough to eat but by the time you get to three or four slices, you feel like you can't eat anymore. To boot, it is served on a plate that is larger than the individual pie.

The chocolate brownie addiction normally comes in a large size, but when you order it with your Triple Play, it is in a smaller size meant for one person to eat. This dessert comes with two scoops of vanilla ice cream and a brownie drizzled in caramel and chocolate sauce. The brownie is very moist and warm; the vanilla ice cream is a perfect compliment. However, our server explained that if it were normal size, he would serve it with no less than four spoons because it is always a good thing to split with someone.

Another great special is the lunchtime special known as "The Nooner". The Nooner comes with your choice of a house or Caesar salad and an individual one topping pizza. Additional toppings cost extra. The regular pepperoni pizza, which I had with my Nooner, was once again well done with no complaints. I even still had room to share a chocolate brownie addiction with my mom and sister.

As for other aspects of Boston's:

I have never been there at a horribly busy time, so I can't speak for how well the staff handles a lunch rush. However, two of the waiters we've had there have been very friendly and personable. The supervisor who is on duty at lunch is an older lady and she always spends enough time talking to your table and would remind anyone of their grandmother.

I only had a bad waitress one time. This waitress was non existent and would serve the other tables in the restaurant, even groups who had come in and sat down after us. However, the supervisor I mentioned above saved the day and was able to take care of our table from taking orders to serving dessert. We just prayed the waitress didn't get the tip when we paid our bill!

The restaurant is well cleaned.

There are two big screen TVs on both ends of the restaurant as well as in the sports bar area, which is to the right of the front entrance.

The prices are fairly high, but with such good food, you don't really regret spending so much.

Boston's will cater to everyone in your family regardless of their preferences. If you want to get a pizza or pasta, you can have that, but someone else may be drawn in to the Boston's Bacon Cheeseburger. Then, you can finish off with dessert, but make sure everyone in your group gets a chance to eat. You will almost never be able to finish something by yourself.

If there is a Boston's Gourmet Pizza near you, head there today for friendly service and a satisfying meal.
