Restaurant Review: Buffalo Phil's in Wisconin Dells, Wisconsin

Buffalo Phil's is a family oriented restaurant located in the Wisconsin Dells area. It is located next to Knuckleheads Amusement Center (actually attached to via a long hallway) and next to the Tanger Outlet Complex.

Buffalo Phil's states they are a family oriented western dining experience. We took out two girls for dinner. The atmosphere is definitely western and interesting to look at. However, there isn't anything else for the kids to do. A coloring sheet or games on the tables would make it more family oriented. It appears that family oriented means they welcome families. Yes, there is an amusement establishment attached but there isn't anything to keep your little one's entertained during the meal.

The establishment is large. We were taken upstairs to our table, located right next to the bar. There wasn't anyone at the bar drinking but this isn't the location I would choose to eat dinner with two small children. They do have a salad buffet that looked interesting but it was located downstairs. I would have ordered it if I didn't have to climb the stairs with food to eat at it.

The menu is western oriented. While Pizza is in their name, we didn't order it but rather opted for sandwiches and children's meals. Maybe we should have ordered what they specialize in. It might have been a better choice. Looking at their main entrees, they appeared to be interesting and large but they were expensive in my opinion. Our sandwiches were OK. Mine was served on a soggy bun, which I traded, with my husband for his. The children's meals were a good price. They were loaded with waffle fries, which had a very interesting taste to them, that I couldn't place. The kid meals came with tokens for the amusement center, which was a nice added bonus at the end of the meal, which we didn't expect. We were planning on going next door to play for a while after dinner. This is why we choose to eat here.

There are additional services available. Buffalo Phil's offers delivery. You can't miss the bright yellow vehicle with a large 3D buffalo straddling the hood of the vehicle. The Crystal room is available for weddings and special group events. The room looks beautiful from the pictures on their website, we didn't see it during our visit. Buffalo Phil's also offers a special menu for these events. Coupons are available on their website as well as at many locations around town. You can find many coupon books around the area but you can also find coupons available at the Outlet Mall located next door, and it is worth the extra few minutes to go pick them up.

Buffalo Phil's appears to be a very popular establishment given its size and ability to accommodate so many patrons at all their available tables. Our meals were fine but Buffalo Phil's is not a place I would have to visit again. It wasn't memorable enough and didn't entertain our children while dinning. We would opt to visit Knucklehead's next door again but without combining a meal with our entertainment.
