Restaurant Review: Cilantros in Sacramento, Ca

Cilantros
Neighborhood: Downtown
Sacramento, CA 95814

Location
Just on the corner at 428 J-Street, Cilantro's has a wonderful location. It's right on the edge of the Westfield mall without being properly in any lanes of foot traffic. It's also right along J Street and across from Wells Fargo. As far as location goes Cilantro is definitely convenient, and easily locatable.

Ambiance
It's a bit of a rushed place, especially around lunch. It's filled to the brim with people flooding in and out and Cilantro's does not have a large staff. In fact the ambiance always seems rather split between a darker and cooler section of the restaurant, and a distinctly fast food feeling brighter counter. I've always found the two mini-environments to clash with each other. This is something on a purely personal level, and the fact that it has two distinctly different feeling places in which to sit just means the restaurant has more to offer in terms of ambiance.

Staff

There has been only one real issue with the staff, that a few of the staff members speak very little to no English. Seeing as you order at the cash register and then go to your seats, it hasn't been much of a problem for anyone I've seen but it is something that could be a potential problem if someone needed help and could not speak Spanish themselves. This wouldn't be a particularly hard thing to deal with accept right about at the lunch rush, when Cilantro's is packed full

Food
It's excellent, slightly pricey for what is essentially simple fair but understanding that their location is expensive that's understandable. I eat at Cilantro's frequently because of the quality of their food. It has average sized portions just tastes quite excellent. Real, solid Mexican cuisine. They have a good selection of foods as well, a breadth of choice that offers a lot.

Over-All Suggestion
Not a great place to go for a calm or quiet lunch. I've seen people discuss work over their meals but I personally have no idea how it's possible. Cilantro's does have a friendly staff and excellent food, that in combination with its convenient location makes it a place I love to eat at. It's a great place to stop for lunch during work.
