Restaurant Review: Culver's in Shenandoah, TX
It is Also Said that This Restaurant is in Spring, TX and the Woodlands, TX
Shenandoah, TX 77380
United States of America
While on a car trip to Seguin, TX so my sister could go on a campus tour of Texas Lutheran University, we took a bit of a detour into what we thought was Spring, TX in order to eat at a restaurant called Culver's because Briana had always wanted our mom to be able to eat there. I had already eaten there as we had stopped there once when we were on our way to Seguin, TX to see a concert by Jonathan Rundman.
The hard part is that many will say that the restaurant is in The Woodlands, TX and that is not the case. If the Culver's site is visited, it will say it is in Spring, TX. This is better. However, when going to Mapquest and trying to find the restaurant, it will not be able to find the address.
We finally found out once a the restaurant that it is really in Shenandoah, TX. I tried putting in that address in Mapquest before writing this article and have found that it is the correct address to use.
It can be a bit hard to find the restaurant as it is under the Interstate and in a little area that has many trees. However, it is next to a Cane's and that means that either the blue Culver's sign or the red Cane's sign can be seen in the area.
Setting:
Culver's is a mix between a fast food restaurant and a full service restaurant. Inside, the place where the orders are taken looks like a typical fast food restaurant with a counter in the front. Then the tables are inside on a carpeted area. It also has a drive-through and places to eat outside.
Being that we had my mom's little chihuahua with us, we did not eat inside. Instead, we drove through and then stopped and sat down at one of the outside tables. It was a nice setting and the tables had umbrellas that provided shade.
Service:
Being that we drove through, there was not a lot of service that could be rated. However, the people at the drive through were understanding and efficient. They gave us our drinks at the drive through window. We had to wait just a little bit for the food to be done and they asked us to drive forward and wait. We did not mind as this meant fresh food and it did not take long. A worker then brought our food to our car.
Menu:
My mom and I both had the ButterBurger Cheese and fries basket. I had mine plain as I always eat my hamburgers that way. My mom had some of the other dressings on her. My sister had the chicken tenders meal that also came with fries. We also got a family order of cheese curds.
I quite enjoyed the ButterBurger. It really is just a hamburger, though the bun is what is special about it. My mom said it is "just a hamburger." However, I can say that I was less impressed with it this time than the first time. I think there was something a bit more special with the bun the first time that I had the ButterBurger.
The fries were also very good and crispy. I tried my sister's chicken. I thought it was about the same as most chicken tenders, but it was good. The cheese curds were a bit like tiny cheese sticks. However, while there did seem to be the mozzarella version, there also seemed to be some that were either a very mild cheddar or a mix of mild cheddar and American cheese. They were good, but nothing special as they were just battered and fried cheese.
As we left, we drove through to get some of the custard (ice cream). I got chocolate with some mint syrup and pieces of Andes mints.
Culver's offers a lot more than just a traditional fast food restaurant which is great for people who are near a Culver's that have people that would like to eat at a fast food restaurant and those that would like to eat at a restaurant with some different food.
A few of the items that Culver's offers that are different from different fast food places are North Atlantic cod, beef pot roast, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, Cole slaw, soup, Philly rib eye steak, and grilled Reuben melt. I cannot comment on how these taste as I have not tried any of them.
