Restaurant Review: El Toro Viejo in Logan, UT

Great Mexican Food

Good Mexican food is often hard to find, particularly in small town Utah. Having lived in Arizona, where Mexican food is a staple, I was amazed to find anything even resembling an edible Mexican meal in Logan, UT. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered El Toro Viejo, a wonderfully lively Mexican restaurant located at 1079 N. Main St. With such a central location, El Toro Viejo is a great place to enjoy a light lunch, or to take the family as you all enjoy what this great little restaurant has to offer.

One of the best measures of a great restaurant is the staff. On entering El Toro Viejo, I have always been greeted by a friendly staff with a smile. I have never had to wait for longer than five minutes, and they have always been kind and genuinely happy to have me as their guest. The waiters and waitresses have always been attentive and prompt and, in the event of the occasional hang up with the food or misunderstanding on the order, they have been quick to do anything necessary to make the dining experience as pleasant as can be. This willingness to help shows that the management and employees care about their patrons and want you to feel at home as one of their guests.

The most important feature of a restaurant is, of course, the food. Upon sitting down, you are immediately outfitted with the traditional chips and salsa, to accompany your menu while you decide what to order. The salsa is excellent, and, as a bonus, they provide you with both a spicy red and a milder green salsa, to outfit everyone's taste. The chips are not the best I've had, but don't detract from the great salsa taste.

The food is excellent and well priced. I have never felt cheated by food or drink prices, as they often have drink specials and excellent meal specials for the evening. You also get what you pay for with big portions fit for any appetite. There's no scrimping at this restaurant.
I always measure a Mexican food establishment by the quality of the enchiladas, and El Toro Viejo has never let me down. They have excellent enchiladas, my favorite being the shrimp or crab varieties with a great sour cream sauce. If you're going for a more simple chicken or beef, they will never disappoint. The variety of meals on the menu is sure to please anyone wanting to get a little spicy taste from the south.

El Toro Viejo is an excellent local restaurant that everyone should take the chance to visit. From the friendly staff, bright décor, and excellent food, they are sure to please everyone looking for a little spice and a lot of great food.
