Restaurant Review: Empire Kosher in Queens, NY

Empire Kosher in Queens, NY is a great Jewish restaurant for anyone to enjoy. The restaurant is located on Queens Boulevard and it is easy to find with its big awning and a picture of a chicken on it. Empire Kosher, like its name suggestions, is a kosher restaurant that is unique in that is a family style fast food restaurant.

There are no menus; the food is posted on the wall menus for customers. When you buy your food, you go along a station line, similar to that of a school cafeteria. The main course dishes are to the left, followed by the side dishes, drinks and then the cash register.

Empire Kosher is famous for their grilled chicken which tastes great. They also have chicken, lamb and beef shish kabob which is served on a long wooden stick with freshly roasted peppers and onions. Empire also provides customers with a meat sauce that is unique and not sold in stores. It's similar to that of steak sauce or turkey gravy and compliments the meat very well. The portions of food are very generous. For example, when you order the grilled chicken they give you two large pieces of chicken.

The choice of side dishes includes corn or steamed vegetables, baked potato, mashed potato, rice, French fries or an Israeli salad. With each main course meal, you get 2 side dishes of your choice. For your drink, you can either get a fountain soda or the canned variety.

Each person's meal with a side dish, main course and soda will probably cost around $7 a person which is really a great deal. Empire Kosher gives you a lot of food for the amount you pay. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant and the great thing about Empire Kosher is that you get your food right away. As for parking, Empire Kosher is located in a busy neighborhood but there is a great deal of side streets to park your car. Make sure you bring quarters for the meter parking areas.

The people who work at Empire Kosher are very friendly and the owners make sure to greet each customer and ask how the food is and if there is anything that they can do for you. The food is served to customers in a compact white takeout tray which really packs in the heat. Empire Kosher also has a large base of takeout customers who pick up the food from the restaurant and bring it home. In fact, because of their quick service, you don't even need to order your food ahead of time over the phone. You can just walk in and pick up your food within five minutes.
