Restaurant Review: Flanigans Seafood Bar & Grill in Miami and Ft Lauderdale - Finger Licking Good

I don't eat a lot of meat so when I do I usually go all out and order one of my favorite dishes when the time arrives....One place I love to go to when I crave Ribs is Flanigan's, Seafood Bar and Grill.

Flanigan's has been in the South Florida area since 1985 and their award winning Baby Back ribs are simply wonderful as is their seafood. Not much of a fancy place, dark woods, with walls filled with old art work depicting fishing shacks, and photos of fisherman, both men and women showing off their catch of the day. There are television screens on the walls broadcasting sports shows and can be seen from every corner of the restaurant.

There are pool tables on one side of the bar with the restaurant on the other. Each time I have been there it has been with my daughter and son-in-law and my grandsons. We've always been seated at one of large booths which line the walls. These are perfect for us. Booster chairs are available for the little tykes. For smaller parties the center of the room has tables for four.

Immediately upon sitting the waiter comes with a "kids pack" which contain crayons, a coloring sheet and a few tattoos. This keeps the boys busy for a little while until we order and the food arrives. My daughter always orders the boys their favorite Jurassic Park Chicken Fingers which comes with curly fires, to get them eating as soon as possible

The staff has always been friendly and very helpful with us eager to explain the specials of the day but I've always ordered the same thing with each visit, their award winning Baby Back Ribs. I go with the intention of ordering something else but end up with that hot steaming plate of ribs cooked to perfection. They practically fall off the bones they are so tender. I order the full rack at $16.99 with the thought that I will take some home which is usually the case since I've never been able to finish my meal. They come with your choice of baked potato or rice. I get the potato with all the goodies on the side. Also available, for an additional $1.99, is a small salad or their homemade coleslaw. These ribs are served in combination plates as well, with a half-barbequed chicken or a half dozen wings or even a half dozen Fried Shrimp for $14.99

My daughter usually gets the Prime rib for $15.99 . I have tasted hers and its truly delicious always cooked perfectly just as she asked for. Also on the menu is a NY Strip and a Rib Eye steak, which my son-in-law enjoys. He's a big guy and this is a big portion for $14.99.

Since Flanigan's is called Seafood Bar and Grill you might wonder about the specialties from the sea. My husband ordered the Blackened Tuna , he really enjoyed it and said it was as fresh as could be. Each fish special is available prepared blackened, broiled, grilled, sautéed, or deep fried ..Other seafood offerings are Deep Fried Shrimp for $11.99. They also offer a Surf and Turf dish for $13.99

You can also have barbequed chicken for $8.99 and there are 4 pasta dishes on the menu as well. In the mood for a burger? Well, with five kinds of burgers I'm sure you will find one to your liking as well as the 7 types of sandwiches and four specialty salads also on the menu. These all are in the $5.00 to $8.00 price range.

There is a full bar with many kinds of beers and wines for all taste buds. Soft drinks are offered and you can get you drink in a giant cup which you take home should you want to do that.

But the best is yet to come, the desserts! All sorts of fresh homemade goodies are available; Key lime Pie, Carrot Cake and my grandsons favorite, the Chocolate Ecstasy...You should just see his face when he has that chocolate dessert in front of him. They also serve Cheesecake of various kinds, one, an Oreo Cheesecake which I just had to have. We shared it between the four of us and still had enough. Each dessert is priced at $3.49 to $3.99.

With 18 locations from as far north as Pompano Beach, Palm Beach, and Deerfield Beach, and all the way south to Kendall and Coconut Grove most likely if you are visiting South Florida, there will be one near by.

Flanigan's Seafood Bar And Grill is great for a casual and family dining, featuring fresh food, always prepared well and served with a smile.. So eat hardy and enjoy!
