Restaurant Review Garden by the Light House

Port Clinton, Ohio, Lake Erie,

Lake Erie is a wonderful asset to our area. This time of year all the boats have been put into storage, the beaches are deserted and us locals can enjoy God's beauty without sharing with those tourist folks. There are two special things the Queen Goddess and I enjoy at the Lake when it's a special occasion. One is a beautiful sunset the other is a fine meal with great service. This night we were celebrating the Queen Goddess' birthday. The sunset was breathtaking. I whispered in her ear "Tonight we celebrate just us."

The Garden by the Lighthouse has always been a favorite of ours for special occasions. The Garden has a relaxed atmosphere that allows you to decide how to dress. Jeans and a sweater or formal attire you are treated with the same superior service and top quality food. The wine list is extensive enough to please the everyday folks and the connoisseur. The garden also offers a complete bar for those who wish to enhance their evening with other spirits.

The special evening we dined at the Garden they had a litany of featured meals in addition to their extensive menu. Our server, Penny, was the perfect blessing to an evening filled with great food and superb service. Don't miss out on the pate' before dinner, it is a delightful beginning.

The Queen Goddess decided on a sixteen ounce New York Strip Steak with the Garlic smashed redskin potatoes and Garden special salad that has walnuts, goat cheese, field greens, and a walnut vinaigrette. The Steak was done to perfection the enhancements were delightful.

I chose the Mahi Mahi with the same salad and the special rice pilaf. The Mahi Mahi was served over a seasonal puree of vegetables and a walnut and sugar crust. I must admit it was better than any I've tried before. The rice pilaf was made here and a delightful change from the standard Uncle Ben's most restaurants serve. Hold your fork the best is yet to come...

Penny brought a tray of desserts to our table that was so laden with delicacies I wondered if she lifted weights in her time off. I was tempted to order one of each. The Queen Goddess reminded me of my Diabetes so we shared a huge piece of Godiva chocolate cheesecake. I had two fork fulls and decided to stop before I ordered another piece. To call this decadent would be an understatement.

OK folks it was the Queen Goddess' birthday so we threw the budget to the wind. Fortunately for us this only happens occasionally. Dinner, coffee, dessert, sales tax, and gratuity for two was almost $70. It was worth every penny. That special feeling after being treated like royalty was priceless...Mizpah ;-}}>

You keep throwing budget to the wind. Do you work for AIG? (I'm kidding). Lovely review - the steak and Mahi sound great.

The name of this restaurant is so lovely! Great review! It is nice to be treated like royalty. That makes the price worth it. :-)
