Geno's has been in business in Bethalto since 1942 and we found out that they have consistently been voted as one of the top dining establishments in the area for several years. When we arrived I will say that it was a little difficult to find a place to park. Because of where the restaurant is located, parking is somewhat limited. As this was a busy night we had to park a ways out and walk.
Once inside we were warmly greeted and told there would be a 10 minute wait for our table. Again, since it was so busy we understood. The only issue with having to wait though is that there simply is not a real waiting area. You have to stand around other people's tables and that can be somewhat uncomfortable.
When our table was ready we were seated by our waitress and given menus. I decided on having the T-bone steak which comes with a baked potato, vegetable and salad. My wife chose to have the shrimp and pasta. For as busy as it was that night I was surprised that we were served our salads so quickly. I will say that our waitress and other service individuals were very organized and efficient.
Our food arrived at our table about 20 minutes after ordering. My steak was ordered medium-well, which is exactly how it came out. It was prepared nicely and was not too salty or overly spiced. The baked potato was piping hot and served up with butter and sour cream.
My wife's shrimp pasta dish was huge. The oversized plate was filled with lots of popcorn shrimp and thin creamy pasta noodles. It was simply delicious. The total cost of our dinner was under $25, including tip, which is quite reasonable for the amount of food we received.
Geno's 140 Club serves up very good food, make no doubt about that. The only issues I had a problem with was the lack of parking upon arrival and the lack of a waiting area at the front door. Other than that I would recommend eating there if it were for the food alone.
