Restaurant Review: Grand Buffet of Federal Way Washington

Enjoy a Wide Array of Asian Cuisine at a Great Price!

When you're feeling the urge to dive into a wide array of Asian cuisine, you might want to consider Federal Way's Grand Buffet. While this mid-size town doesn't boast a lot of Chinese Buffet style restaurants, it does have a wide range of places to enjoy food. Who doesn't love sushi and crab for under $11 per person? Better yet, all you can eat!

Grand Buffet begins their daily lunch at 11am until 4pm. After 4pm, dinner is served. A few dishes are removed, and new ones are added. The new dishes tend to be more seafood related such as crab legs, shrimp and mudbugs. The lunch buffet will set you back $6.99 per person, and dinner $10.99 per person. Add a fountain drink (free refills) for a buck. The buffet is open until 9:30 most nights, closing at 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights.

The five table smorgasbord consists of: a large salad bar, fruit, soups, sushi, General Tso's chicken, crab rangoon, chow mein, fried rice, white rice, egg foo young, egg rolls, fried bread, dim sum, barbecued pork, pot stickers, teriyaki chicken on a stick, teriyaki chicken breast, clams, honey chicken, and American cuisine such as: corn on the cob, crinkle cut french fries, mashed potatoes, garlic toast, pizza, and a dessert bar that includes: soft serve ice cream (with toppings), pastries, and cakes.

Takeout is also available at the Grand Buffet. At lunch you may fill a take out box at $3.99 per pound, dinner at $4.99 per pound, however if it is seafood, it is $7.99 per pound. If you would like to enjoy a 10-piece box of sushi, the price is $7.50.

An attempt as been made for the décor of Grand Buffet for you to enjoy the food of the Orient, but seems to lack pizzazz. On occasion the oriental music becomes peculiar. While visiting this establishment prior, I have heard Chinese renditions of popular American tunes. The booths and chairs are comfortable and sturdy. If you've come with the intention that you'll need to let you're belly stretch, there is certainly room for you to grow comfortably.

I personally enjoy the General Tso's chicken, crab rangoon, chicken and mushrooms, teriyaki chicken. "One of the things I like best about this buffet setting, is that I can eat a small amount of a wide variety of food, and have been rarely disappointed," my dinner companion Mark said, who enjoys the crab rangoon and teriyaki chicken which he highly recommends.

My biggest gripe for Grand Buffet in Federal Way is the unkempt bathrooms. They may not keep a schedule of who and how often the restrooms are looked over, but it's without a doubt something they really need to keep their eye on. The walls, floors and counters are always dirty, and tend to produce an atrocious smell. Wear and tear over the years is noticeable, nothing a little paint, a new counter and hourly maintenance couldn't fix.

Grand Buffet is located at 2120 S 320th St. in Federal Way Washington, across the way from The Commons (formerly known as SeaTac Mall).

Who ever can really describe themselves well? Until I can find someone to do it for me, this will have to remain a mystery....  View profile
