"Hecho En Mexico" means "made in Mexico". The Hecho En Mexico restaurant may not BE in Mexico, but the food definitely it came straight off of mamacita's grill.

Hecho En Mexico is located in Fairfield, a small town off of I-80 that is located halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento. The restaurant is right outside of Travis Air Force Base, Hecho En Mexico's largest patronage. If you ever want to get lunch this restaurant that operates like a take-out but has plenty of seats for eating, your best bet is to get in right before 11am or you can find yourself standing in line- outside the Hecho En Mexico Taqueria. It is THAT good!

So what makes this restaurant so popular? "The portion sizes", said one patron. "They are very, very generous". . The burritos come in 3 different sizes: regular, super, and jumbo. I've never ordered the jumbo or the super because my regular burrito was 8 inches long and 5 inches in circumference. That's a big burrito for only $4! They also serve the usual of what you would expect out of a Mexican cook to order restaurant- tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, refried beans, etc. However, Hecho En Mexico seems to put a little twist and a lot of taste into each meal.

Take their tacos. If you order crispy tacos, the sprinkle shredded parmesan cheese on the outsides of the flour tortillas. Or the chimichangas, where you can taste a good squeeze of lime in each bite.

The prices are hard to beat as well. Order that chimichanga (which is almost 10 inches long and 7 inches around!), which is filled with rice, cheese and a choice of meat and it only costs you around $5. You can add in a drink and a side of beans and rice for about $3 more and you'll have more than enough lunch for under $8. And don't forget to top off your meal with some homemade flan for $2. The most you'll pay for a dish is $9 and that is a complete dinner; lunch specials can be had for $5 or less. It seems unreal!

Hecho En Mexico is pretty good with the service. The cooks and staff are always serving at a faster speed than the rest of the country. While you wait you can serve yourself up chips and salsas of varying heat degrees.

Overall, Hecho En Mexico has been the best Mexican restaurant I've been to east of San Francisco. The service is quick, the portions are generous, and you aren't breaking your wallet to get a quality meal. How much more American can you get?
