Restaurant Review: Hofbrauhaus in Las Vegas, NV

As a person born and raised for 18years in Germany it is difficult to impress me with the so called German foods served in many of the Restaurants throughout the US. After many disappointing stops in the European or more supposedly German based Eateries, I had all but given up. You can barely imagine my delight and surprise when a good friend of ours took my husband and me to the Hofbrauhaus here in Las Vegas NV.

I had heard of it many times, but as mentioned I was so disappointed in previous tries that I wasn't even willing to give it another try. He had known how much I missed my home which I had not seen in 18Years now and had enjoyed my German home cooked meals often, that now he wanted to share with us his favorite Restaurant.

Just walking up to the building you are reminded of the original Hofbrauhaus in Munich Bavaria. Walking up the little walk way to the entrance you hear the traditional folks music filtered through the speakers.

The front has a little bar and a small shop for those that are not hear to partake in the culinary offerings of the establishment, but only wish to stop in for one of their famous German Beers, be it dark or light. Or if you fancy you are even able to have a glass of wine.

If you are a Stein collector or have a penchant for the rich flavored chocolate that you can find in Germany you can purchase those delectable treats in the little shop.

The Hostesses are dressed in a Dirndl and are very helpful and friendly. Sadly due to the new regulations here in Las Vegas the Restaurant is now non-smoking only. You will have to step outside to have an after Meal Cigarette.

The interior is set up like the original Restaurant with long Tables that will seat several People. No staunch formal setting here. The Ceiling and Walls have exact replicas of the ones you will find in Germany. If you will never make it to Germany's famous Munich Hofbrauhaus established in 1589, don't be sad. Just visit the replica in Las Vegas and you will get a very close taste of the real thing.

In the back of the building they even have an indoors version of the outdoors Bier Garden that you can find in Munich.

The atmosphere is relaxed, but don't expect to have a quiet romantic conversation. Just like the real thing, the House will ring with the loud and fun loving sounds of the guests as they are invited to sing along and interact with the bands that are entertaining the Guest daily after 4pm.

Don't think that you will be able to resist the charm of the surroundings, nor the request of the Musicians as the guide you in a Cheer of "Die Kruege hoch!" Translation: The Steins (or Glasses) up!"

The Service is prompt and friendly and the Waitresses are extremely helpful. There are even a few that are able to speak the language of the Fatherland. The Prices are reasonable with Daily Specials starting at $9.95 and those change daily.

They serve Lunch and Dinner with the Restaurants Hours of Operation being from 11 am to 11 pm on Sunday through Thursday and from 11 am - midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Let us address the food for a moment.

If you want a taste of Germany at its best you have to try the Muenichner Weisswurst. (Munich White Wurst) and make sure you asked for it poached. It is served with an original Bavarian Pretzel and their special Mustard. The Taste is full of flavor and unlike anything you have experienced before. It is one of my personal favorites and one of the things I most frequently choose. My Husband prefers the Riesenbratwurst with extra Sauerkraut. This is served with French Fries and is excellent. My Daughter loves their Sauerbraten with Knoedel. Their portions are fairly good sized if not as large as you may find in the traditional American Restaurants. That is for a very good reason however. German foods are heavy and filling.

Looking for a Desert? Try their traditional Apfelstruddel with Vanilla Sauce or their Schwartzwaelder Torte. You can buy one and share it with your companion. The Coffee is a bit stronger then you may be used too.
